The kids and Gems warp in to a tower made of pillars. The whole building had an eerie glow about it. Bismuth explained what the tower was, a communication hub for the gems of Home-world. She would know, before joining Rose's rebellion, she had been on the building crew. This hun needed to come down as it was malfunctioning and interfering with human entertainment devices, like television. The kids tried to use their powers on the lower pillars but they were too thick to move or even be damaged by the young hybrids.
Spinel suggested fusion, with Amethyst seconding it. Bismuth postulated that size would be a big help, but that someone needed to watch the kids, and offered Amethyst her hand, which excited the purple gem. Steven and Page were also excited after seeing Kunzite, and the twins would be seeing fusion in person for the first time. The only person who had a problem was Spinel, as she thought the two get a little... rambunctious when fused, with both of them being very high energy. Everyone else wanted to go with the plan, and so Spinel was silenced, and huddled the kids off to the side.
The two stocky gems moved inside the hub, the rings of pillars creating something akin to a stage. Their gems started to glow and the two of them started jumping around. It looked random at first but a pattern and beat began to emerge. Bismuth suddenly growled and Amethyst ran at her like she was going to tackle the larger gem. Instead when she made contact, a bright violet light shot up in the center of the pillars and a plume of yellow smoke went up shortly after, smelling awfully like eggs. Standing there when the smoke cleared was a giant. She had four arms and glowed, literally, even in the light of the active hub. Letting out a sound that was part demonic growl and part unnatural screech, she turned her eyes on the children.
"Hey ya! Didn't mean to scare ya, just got lost in the vibe ya know! Night like this, it's hard not to." She apologized.
"Sodalite, we're here for a reason, don't get distracted" Spinel reminded.
"It's Hackmanite, Spin, and I wanted to make sure the kids were having as much fun as I am anyway, that's just being a good friend," the large gem retorted.
Hackmanite looked at the kids who, while in stunned silence, looked absolutely thrilled. She summoned whips in her upper arms, lengthening the handles and turning the whips to chains, ending up with two three headed flails. Her lower arms turned into Bismuth's signature hammers. She gave a wicked smile, gestured for the kids to back up, and spun around in a circle taking the inner pillars out in one go. The hub shut off and Hackmanite moved as if she was done to the entryway. Spinel stopped her and called her Sodalite again. Hackmanite whirled around so fast her feet were still facing the door when her glowing eyes met the pink gem's. She growled, then told the kids to head to the warp. As the four of them made it to the crystal platform, there was a loud scream and the entirety of the hub fell in a cloud of smoke. The kids not knowing what else to do warped home, in hopes their guardians were okay.
A few days later, Hackmanite and Spinel showed up by walking onto the beach from the ocean. Nothing had changed about their forms, which meant they hadn't been poofed. but they were fighting. At a distance it seemed like just loud arguing, but as they approached, the kids could see that Hackmanite had placed Spinel in a cage made out of her lower hands, and they were arguing about Spinel constantly calling Hackmanite, by Sodalite. When the giant gem made it onto the sand, she abruptly stopped talking, as the kids asked why Spinel used the wrong name. Spinel turned around to answer herself, but panes of yellow glass-like material formed between the cages bars and no sound came out.
Hackmanite began to explain. "Well, the gem Hackmanite, is only found on earth, no other planet in Homeworld's Empire, has ever produced this gem. But Hackmanite is a type of Sodalite. It's the same way a Hessonite is a Garnet. You would never just call a Hessonite "Garnet". That's why I get upset. I may be a Sodalite, but my name is Hackmanite. It's as if she would only call you guys Human, like it's your name."
The kids nodded their heads in understanding, and Steven pointed to the trapped Spinel, asking if she could be let go. Holding a friend hostage because they offended you is not cool.
Hackmanite released Spinel onto the beach, and told her that she was still upset and wanted to spar. It would get the energy out and would give a little training while fused, since they hadn't been existing for very long. They fought for some time when Spinel inflated her hand and bopped Hackmanite in the face. the strain of holding heself together for so long and the damage from the sparring split the gem and the purple gems landed on the beach with a thud. The family had a long discussion over supper and slept soundly that night.
