CHAPTER 3: Fate And Destiny
4. A few months later, after Anun has been studying since he had found the book, now at the age of eleven, his mother talks to his maid saying to her, "um...Marda, can you ask Anun why he doesn't what me to check on him at night? This started suddenly, I need you to do it so that I can get his best answer with me not there, because you are his favorite maid after for all."
"I will do, Queen Svetlana."
"Thank you."
Queen Svetlana walks away as Marda watches for Anun. And that night, as Anun reads the book, Marda comes in saying, "just coming to clean, your father made me clean Tei's room first this time, by age I guess." She laughs after, the laugh cackling with nervousness.
"Marda, did Doris tell you about this book I'm reading? It is the book of the Southern Island, I love these warriors, the Creator is just amazing, I wish I could be one of them."
"Oh, you have enough praise."
"Yeah, now it's Tei's."
"Don't say that, you are still greatly loved."
"Doesn't seem like it." Anun says, still reading the book.
"Well, I do know about that book, it is between us, your family should know eventually though, actually surprise them with your knowledge."
"Yeah..."
Switching the topic, Marda tells him, "how come you won't let her check on you at night? You can always just put the book away, and not let her see it?"
"I know, but sometimes she snoops, I don't want anything else happening with this family, I don't." He looks to her after saying this.
"Well, get some sleep, okay?"
"Okay, you rest well too." He smiles.
She nods to him, saying, "I will." Anun lays down to sleep as Marda finishes cleaning his room.
As she walks out she gets scared by Svetlana, as she was listening the whole time. "Oh! I didn't see you there, did you..?"
"Yes, I heard."
Svetlana rushes into Anun's room, her face upset and frowned saying, "how could you not tell us that you were reading this the whole time! This is a sacred book for all of us, you need to see your father right now!"
"Mother, I'm sorry."
Svetlana walks away from Anun, rushing to his father, brushing through Marda as all their workers stare. She burst the door open of the Kings throne room saying, "speak to your son, please."
Tutui walks towards Svetlana and Anun saying, "what is the big deal here? What have you done? Anun." His face in question of the situation.
"Here, he has been reading this." Svetlana gives Tutui the book with him replying, "you have been secretly reading the book of the Southern Island?? For how long??"
"Since I was still ten." He answers.
"Everyone! In the throne room, now!" King Tutui calls out.
All the servants rush into the throne room, including Tei and his family as Tutui continues saying, "this book is sacred son, and you my servants! Who has given him the book to read!"
Marda steps forward, saying, "Doris and I, I misplaced it, and Doris let him keep it to read, because he wanted to, as he was upset, due to the Medito race loss."
He turns to Anun saying, "Is this true? Anun."
"Yes father, I thought you all would see me as a failure, because I said no and yes to the race and lost, I just wish it never happened."
"That is cowardly, you stand up like I taught you too." "I know, I'm really trying and I will, I apologize, dearly."
Tutui looks through the book saying, "this book is something we should be reading, it is of the warriors? We shall read this, but together from now on, now you guys may go, we will start on this later."
Tutui walks away and so do the servants and Tei's family, as he viciously stares at him as they leave.
...
As Anun sits in his families garden in their backyard the next day, Tei walks up from behind him, leaning over Anun's shoulder saying, "do not mope, coward, it only makes you look worse."
Anun pushes him away saying, "do not mess with me right now..." Anger is truly sitting in his voice as he says this.
"Oh, no, definitely not, I just wanted to ask you something."
"What is it!" He grits his teeth to say.
"If this Medito race hurts you so bad, then let's rematch and race again."
"Huh? No, we can't, that should have never happened, let's just continue to practice instead, like it was supposed to be."
"Oh...Well can I tell you a secret?"
Tei continues to walk around Anun saying, "I actually don't care for Medito racing, that is from your people, not mine, so...I was forced to do it because of you and your side, really...I just want to be the king, and I'll just wait for that because it is coming, but seriously I just did it as I am very good at it, maybe even better than you."
"Nonsense."
"Your nonsense must mean your jealous that I am better, so I guess a rematch won't matter, because you are afraid, too afraid to get beat again, hahaha!"
Anun turns to face him, standing up and saying, "you know what, I am afraid, I am afraid for you and your destiny, because this talk has come out of you, and you only, I hope this all sticks with you in your last days, how ever long that will be."
Tei looks at him viciously as Anun keeps talking, "I will focus on our fate, not on our tribes fun fest of bird racing, I love Medito's, but our life is more important than that, that is why the book of the Southern Island is something you may never understand, so...I feel pretty bad for you." Anun walks away, leaving Tei to those words by himself.
He uses his talent to hide his shame
CHAPTER 4: The Walk Of Shame
4. For the last three years, now at the age of fourteen, Anun has become close to mastering the Medito race, as for teaching the young and older ones on flying high, but as well as the book of the Southern Island. As he has gained the care from his people back, Tei has felt denounced in his royalty.
So, during their ceremony for the Medito's, a ceremony of their greatness, Tei and his family sit with Anun's family, on the balcony of their palace, watching the Medito ceremony take place. As the ceremony goes on, Anun gets up to do his part of the act, then Tei gets up as well and follows him.
The crowd cheers on and as the act stops, Tei walks over to Anun saying, "so...Does any of this make you want to race again?" Everyone goes silent with Tei saying, "huh..? Any answer?"
"I already told you before, did you forget? I'm not racing, I'm focusing on being an actual prince, and to find out who this warrior is, please...It is something you should be doing too."
Tei backs away from him, facing everyone and saying, "look everyone!! A coward! You use your job to always hide your faults, I'm sick of it and so are we all."
"Leave him be! " the King says.
Tei looks up to Tutui, "what?"
"I said leave him be, Tei!" King Tutui stands up to say this, making sure Tei can fully see him.
All the guards surround him, as Tei looks to Anun saying, "fine, but you know that you are disrupting your people, by hiding your true talent." Tei gets walked away as Anun ponders to himself, then saying, "alright, let's continue everyone, I'll be right with you all."
...
That night after having a big supper for the ceremony, Tutui starts to say to his servants, "one of you go out by the mountains on the right and fetch us some wood, please."
"Sure thing, my King."
"Wait!" Anun rushes in saying, "I'll do it." Svetlana drops one the plates and says, "no! You can't go out there by yourself in that darkness, that is for our servants to do."
"I'll be fine, I promise."
"Don't promise me something I know you can't keep, son." Queen Svetlana replies, worried.
Then Tutui holds her hand and says, "we will have guards with him.
"Let him go, since he wants to be a man now." Tei replies. "Not that Tei, I just want some air." Anun replies.
"Fine Anun, but like I said three of our guards will go with you," he turns to said guards, "please watch him..."
They nod to their king, standing with Anun now. Svetlana walks away angrily at this while Tutui tells Anun to go.
...
Anun walks out in the darkness, with only candle light to the rock and wood covered area by a large mountain, "I'll get it, guards." The guards stand behind as Anun grabs for some wood, as he goes to grab it, a beam of light on the wood burns him, causing him to drop the wood. The guards run to help him, but...Anun blacks out completely, waking up in a dark cave, only to find candle light by himself.
He stands up, feeling dizzy and off and not like himself, with longer brown hair and adult like clothes adorned on him, so he gets up and walks around the dark and echoing cave, with only his light, and...The book of the Southern Island with him, wait...what?
"What is this doing here? This wasn't here before?" He voices echoes strongly in the cave.
"That is the book of Southern Island, Anun."
"Who was that..? Hello!"
From the darkness a middle aged woman comes in, beautiful, ebony skin with long flowing kinky hair, gold eyes and a long golden dress.
"Whoa, I've...You must be from the Areanean Nation, what are you doing here?"
"I'm from Southern Island, someone very important to you in the future, I've met about three different people from different nations now, just like you."
"What do you mean? How are you able to be here? And how did I get in this cave?"
"By your dream."
"But I wasn't dreaming, I was just grabbing some wood to make fire?"
"That is what you saw, but that didn't really happen, he is the reason why..."
The woman points to Tei standing in front of Anun, smirking at him like usual, then he starts yelling at him, but Anun cannot hear his words, "why can't I hear him?"
"Because, everytime he talks, your mind blocks him out, this is a representation of what he is like to you, do not let him get to you, do what you are called to do and what the Creator wants you to do. So...Would you except? What you are now, is a true warrior."
Then the lady disappears, "wait!" He calls out for her, but she is gone like she was never even there.
Anun wakes up, with one of the guards holding him saying, "Anun? You're awake, tell the king and queen that he is fine, and make sure you get the wood."
"On it." One of the guards say.
"I'm fine, just a little tired, that's all."
"Well, get some sleep, okay?"
"I will."
...
Tei watches him as they take him to his room as Anun goes to bed thinking of the words of that strange woman he so clearly saw.
And there goes the warrior
