This wasn’t how he had imagined his first kiss. Not in front of a stranger who got off of two men making out at least. But looking into those kind black eyes of Nyx made him feel like it was worth it.
The alicorn gently cupped the redhead’s face, leaning in for their first kiss. Zain closed the distance, wanting the other to know that he really was okay with this. Then their lips touched, and it was all Zain ever wanted. He gladly welcomed the gentle push of Nyx’s tongue, and soon they found themselves so intertwined that it made his head spin.
Something about Nyx made him forget where they were, in front of whom, because his hands dared to travel to the hem of the alicorn’s jacket and shirt. He sneaked his hands underneath, caressing the dark-haired man’s alabaster skin.
Nyx grinned when they broke free to gasp for air. He looked down at Zain’s flustered face, who was still tracing lazy circles ove his hard muscles. After placing a final kiss on the smaller man’s lips, he side-eyed the priest.
“Are you satisfied now?”
The priest hummed. “I had hoped for just a bit more action, but oh well. I guess this will do. I have more to do anyway.”
With a smug grin, he handed the flask over to Nyx, who cautiously accepted. “Thank you.”
The priest nodded, before unlocking the door once again. He let his guests go.
“Next time I expect more, alright? You two are too pretty to keep it all to yourself!”
Zain saw Nyx rolling his eyes as they stepped outside back into the dimmed afternoon light. He couldn’t help but feel a shiver run up his spine, and it was not because of the cold.
“What was that all about?”
The alicorn sighed. “I don’t know. The last time I went to that church, the priest was way less creepy, trust me. Probably a change of management.”
“Do… churches even work that way?”
Nyx shrugged. “Not sure. But at least we survived. And you’re a good kisser.”
A laugh escaped Nyx’s lips when he saw the smaller man blush furiously at the compliment. Then it downed on him.
“Wait, was this your first kiss?”
The redhead averted his eyes, and couldn’t help answering with a small voice. “It was.”
“Oh shit! I’m so sorry!” Nyx cupped Zain’s face to make him look him in the face, “If I had known, I would have refused!”
“I said it was okay, right? Nothing you can do about it now. Besides, it was with you, and I wouldn’t want to have done it any other way.”
The alicorn pulled him in for a hug, and Zain let him. His arms were comforting and warm, which was especially nice in this weather.
“Shall we head home?”
The redhead nodded. With their ingredients collected, they left the small streets of the black market.

“You know what’s missing in your home?” Nyx asked while organzing their items. Tomorrow they would start with the potion.
“What?”
“A pet.”
Zain hadn’t ever thought about a small, fluffy companion living in his home. He didn’t really have time for anything, but it sometimes was lonely.
“If you’re willing to feed it and care for it, because I still have to go back to work soon.”
A grin appeared on Nyx’s face and the redhead wasn’t sure if he trusted that grin.
“What do you have in mind?” He asked, suspicious.
“Well… I could technically summon a tiny fire dragon.”
Images of Zain’s furniture burning to a crisp filled his mind.
“Uh, I’m not sure if that’s a good idea. I don’t want to risk my house catching on fire.”
“Oh, please?” The winged unicorn practically begged, unleashing a whole other side of the man, “I managed to train it before I got locked in this house’s walls. He won’t accidently burn anything he’s not supposed to! I promise!”
Zain couldn’t help but find the alicorn with his new, almost child-like enthusiasm pretty endearing. He then finally caved.
“Fine. But please keep him in check, okay? He’s your resposibility.”
Nyx nodded. He then released his magic, making the air glitter again, until a purple glowing pentagram appeared in the air. It floated in front of him, casting a colorful glow onto Nyx’s face.
Familiar of fire
Hear my call
Bound by magic
I feed you my power
In return I ask
For your loyalty
From the purple pentagram a small dragon rose up. Zain was impressed and also a tiny bit scared. Even though Nyx had shown some of his powers by now, it was still new enough for everything to still not quite register in his brain. Occasionally Zain wondered if he wasn’t just dreaming.
“Hello Apollo, how have you been? I’m sorry it has been a while!”
The black and red dragon, no bigger than a bunny, settled down on Nyx’s arm like a falcon. It rubbed it’s feathery head against the alicorn’s cheek. The rest of it’s body was scaly, with small black wings like a bat’s. Puffs of smoke escaped from it’s beak.
“He’s actually pretty cute!”
The dragon whipped around it’s head and bore it’s red eyes into Zain’s forehead. A menacing aura filled the room.
“What?”
Nyx chuckled. “Apollo doesn’t like being called cute.”
The redhead blushed, still feeling intimidated by the miniature dragon. “I’m sorry Apollo, I won’t call you cute again. You’re… very strong?”
Apollo crowed in approval and the air quickly lost its tension. Zain sighed from relief and caught Nyx smiling at him.
“See? It’s not so bad.”
Zain grinned. It was true. Even though in the past few days his life has totally changed, he wouldn’t want it any other way. He felt his fire growing back, all thanks to this magical midnight prince.
