"Do you think that Brightworlder can help us?" Said someone.
"Possibly. Let's keep an eye on him. If we are going to get home he may be our best bet." Said someone else.
Somewhere in an arcade…
"Take that!" Said Fawth.
"Oh no ya don't!" Said Tekashi.
"Aw, man! Defeated again." Fawth said.
"This game is easy. It's like another game I used to play. But anyway, where's your sister? She's so cute I gotta see that face again!" Tekashi said.
"Hahaha! She's over there playing with the claw machine." Fawth pointed out.
Tala was standing in front of a claw machine and watching a boy use it.
"You better not mess up." She said.
"Ok, Tala I won't. I wanna make you happy!" Said the boy.
It seemed that Tala got another kid to do her bidding. Just then, the bounce of a ball could be heard and Tala reached through the door to grab a big ball.
"Yay!" She said as she hugged it tight.
"You can go away now." She said.
The boy hesitated but then walked off with a frown. Some other boys were watching and one of them said "Another failure."
Another boy said, "I wonder if she will ever choose one."
Tala ran up to Fawth and showed off her ball.
"Wow! That's so big!" Fawth said.
"Can I take it home?" She asked.
"Alright." Said Fawth.
All three of them walked out of the arcade while Tala bounced her ball.
*Ring ring*
"Hello?" Said Tekashi as he picked up his phone.
"It seems you and I are more alike than I thought." Said someone on the other end.
"What? Who is this?" Asked Tekashi.
"I need your help. You have great abilities that you don't fully realize yourself. In exchange, I'll help you return to where you're from and you help me get back to where I'm from." Said the voice.
"Can I trust you?" Asked Tekashi.
"If you accept my deal then let's meet at the vacant barn on the outskirts of town." The voice said.
"Tomorrow?" Tekashi asked.
"Yes. See you then." Said the voice as the phone hung up.
"What was that?" Asked Fawth.
"An opportunity I hope." Said Tekashi.
The next day, Tekashi rode a bike to the barn and slowly opened the door.
"Hello?" Tekashi called out.
A figure walked out from the shadows.
"Hello there, Brightworlder." Said the figure.
"What does that name mean?" Asked Tekashi.
"It's your codename. You are Tekashi Ryano from Kyoto, AKA the Brightworlder. Upon coming to this world several entities took notice and have referred to you as the Brightworlder ever since. Plus I like it better than your real name, no offense."
"How do you know my name and where I'm from?!" He asked.
"Well, I've been watching you ever since you first displayed your tremendous power. I don't mean to be weird about it but I'm excited to experiment on getting us home." Said the figure.
"One more thing, who exactly are you?" Tekashi pressed.
"For now, just call me Mr. S." Said the figure.
"Ok well, what do we do first?" Tekashi said as he took off his coat.
A few hours later…
"Hand me that wrench." Said Mr. S. "Alright it should be ready to go."
"How does it work?" Asked Tekashi.
"You are the key to this machine. By using your unique power you will feed the machine and open a rift back home. Just make sure you think of your home so the appropriate rift will open." Mr. S explained.
"If you say so." Said Tekashi as he approached the machine.
He closed his eyes and held out his hand in front of the machine. His hand started to glow and then it flowed into the machine. A rift appeared but then it began to flicker and warp until the machine overheated and closed the rift.
"No! Dang it!" Mr. S said.
He inspected the machine and then walked over to Tekashi with a big sigh.
"It looks like the rifternium circuits are fried. Your power was too much for the machine. Unless there's something stronger on this planet then we're stuck." Explained Mr. S.
"I'll have to do some thinking. Let's talk tomorrow." Said Mr. S as he walked away with his head in his hands.
Tekashi went back to his apartment and fell asleep. He started having another dream about his favorite superheroes but this time it was different. His body gave off a soft glow as he could start to make out a cave.
"Hey! Hands off the toast!" Said Thorn.
"Right sorry." Said Hip.
"Do you have a plan on how we will stop this guy?" Asked Thorn.
"Of course I do!" Said Hip confidently.
"Oh really? Would you care to explain?" Asked Thorn.
"Uh...nope. Anyway, let's get going." Said Hip.
"Alright. Maybe we can-woah! Who are you?" Asked Thorn.
"He looks transparent almost! Can you hear us?" Asked Hip.
Tekashi tried to speak but nothing came out. He made motions with his hands but they didn't seem to understand.
"Look he's disappearing!" Said Hip.
Tekashi woke up and rubbed his head.
"Wow. Another strange dream. It seemed so real though." He said.
He picked up the phone and called Fawth.
"Hey. Do you wanna hang out today?" He asked.
"I can't today. I'm pretty busy and I need to find someone to babysit Tala." Said Fawth.
"I could babysit her if you want." Tekashi offered.
"Dude that would be great! I'll drop her off in fifteen minutes." Said Fawth as he hung up.
Tekashi began to clean up the apartment and put away things that Tala could get a hold of. In no time, there was a knock at the door and Fawth was there with Tala. As he opened the door Tala gave Tekashi a hug around his leg.
"Huh. She doesn't like too many people but I guess she likes you." Said Fawth.
"Listen to Tekki, Ok?" Fawth said to Tala.
She nodded her head and Tekashi closed the door.
"Let's have some fun!" Said Tekashi.
