Akira looked up, “Yuji…” he whispered, before sliding off the countertop and more into Yuji’s arms. “I never… I never thought that he would ever be like that,” he murmured, “I guess I shouldn’t feel guilty about what I did all those years ago,” he whispered into the man’s chest.
Yuji ran his hands through Akira’s hair “I know, I know,” he said and moved to lean up against the wall so that he could have Akira lean more into him. He glanced over to the door listening to Aeron kicking and punching it until a flight attendant with Dexter and it sounded like one of the band’s roadies came over to take him away. “He’s just a lost soul,” he explained, “and you aren’t allowed to feel horrible about anything that you do when it deals with him. It’s his fault,” he whispered and continued to run his hand through the other’s hair. “I’ve got you though. I’ll talk to Dexter about your contract, he thought it was shady anyway. We’ll figure this out.”
Akira looked up, “Wait… Dexter would still keep my contract? But, that doesn’t make any sense… I never actually auditioned, it was kind of just on the promise to um… audition, and it seems that I have failed that audition,” he murmured, blushing a bit.
Yuji gave a small chuckle, “Well, we can still have that audition,” he said, “Not like… um, not like how Aeron was going to conduct it. Just, you know, a regular audition, where you dance,” he said, speaking fast towards the end, afraid that Akira might take it as he was telling him that they could have sex. And though Akira had said yes earlier, he was going to hold to it that if Akira said no, it was a no.
Akira gave a small smile and nodded, “that would be nice, I would hate to be here with no home.”
“No home?” he questioned.
“Yeah, I kind of gave my notice to my landlord,” Akira said, giving a weak smile. “I didn’t think… I didn’t… well yeah. I didn’t think,” he said, having a slight hysterical laughter.
Yuji sighed but nodded, “well, then I guess you are just gonna have to dance off that little tush of yours,” he said, “though, if you happen to not get the actual contract though. Um…” he took a deep breath, “we could make that rumor that is going to be flying about true. You could become my well, girlfriend, at the moment, boyfriend if you really want to. I don’t mind. That way you can come with me and be paid for. Granted that means you’ll still be around Aeron, but I’ll pummel him if he touches you again.”
Akira looked up at Yuji for a moment and moved away from him as far as he could in the enclosed space. “You want me to what?” he asked, “I- I don’t even know you, how can I become your… well your anything?”
Yuji chuckled and shrugged, “it was just an idea. I mean, at least that would keep you from being homeless and I wouldn’t expect anything from you. We would just have to act it for the cameras, behind closed doors we can just be friends,” he explained, “look, I’m not saying you have to or anything, it’s just an option. Plus, I would like to see you dance,” he said.
Akira nodded “Yeah, okay. Fine. If I don’t actually get the audition, I’ll be your girlfriend. And I mean girlfriend. Unless you are okay with me ‘outing’ you” he chuckled.
Yuji laughed “Totally, I’m not worried about it like that closeted idiot out there. Now, granted if Dexter says otherwise, there isn’t much I can do about that,” he said.
Akira looked over to the door and sighed a bit, “of course,” he said finally got ready to leave the bathroom with Yuji trailing behind him. He was about to move over to his seat until he saw Aeron next to it. He bit his lip. “A-Aeron,” he started, before Yuji gently pushed him to the side.
“Up and out, you can sit next to Ray, jackass,” Yuji said and glared at Aeron until he moved to go sit by Ray. “Sit down Akira, I’ll be right back,” he said and hurried over to Dexter, talking to him for a bit about having Akira actually audition for the roll and if ‘she’ didn’t make it that perhaps they could solve the rumor story anyway and say that ‘she’ was his ‘girlfriend.’ Dexter looked over to Aeron, then Akira, and then back to Yuji and nodded.
Yuji smiled a thank you and headed back over to Akira where he sat down and reflexively took his hand. “Okay. So, Dexter said that he was cool with getting you an audition and also cool if you pretend to be my girlfriend,” he said and looked over to Dexter before slipping back into Japanese for privacy's sake. “I suppose if you would like to be more of a boyfriend we can go ahead and tell them after the audition. I’m sure you’ll get it though. I mean, our dancers right now aren’t amazing or anything,” he said, “a five-year-old could do better than them,” he commented before looking over to Akira and gave a small clear of his throat “Not that you dance like a five-year-old. I mean, I bet you dance beautifully. Not that I’ve ever seen you dance, but I just get that feeling, you know. Anyway…” Yuji stumbled along, giving a smile to Akira as an apology.
Akira chuckled slightly and looked down at Yuji’s hand on his. He was a little shocked that the other had grabbed his hand but he wasn’t going to complain about it being there in the first place. “You know, I kind of wish that I knew you back in high school instead of Aeron. I feel like it would have gone much better,” he said and looked towards the clouds outside his now window seat. “You seem to be actually genuinely interested in me, though I don’t know why,” he said, before looking back over to Yuji, “Why care about me, we just met?”
Yuji looked down at their hands as well and thought about it for a second. “Well, I’m not really sure why. Maybe because I thought you were cute at first and wanted to get to know you better. But then you know I got to talk to you and something just screamed at me ‘you need to get to know this girl’ and then low and behold I find out you aren’t even a woman. And then I don’t know, I mean, I thought I should have left you to do what you needed to do. Like, you should be able to handle yourself. But I felt this sudden need to head over to you and make sure that you were okay, I just got this horrible feeling,” he explained, “I couldn’t help myself and before I knew it I was pounding on the door because he had called you a whore. I was scared for you,” he laughed at himself. “Stupid I know,” he sighed a little bit and looked down at their hands again.
Akira shook his head “no, I don’t think it’s that stupid,” he said, giving a soft smile. “I’m actually really happy that it was you. Well, okay, I won’t lie, I’m happy that it was stopped in the first place. But the fact that it was you made it a little bit easier to take the blow. I mean, what if you had come a few minutes later? If you had, I would have much rather it have been you that found me. I mean, not only do you know my secret, I just kind of feel safe around you already,” he laughed a little, “Though I really don’t feel like I should, but maybe that’s a good thing in itself, that I feel safe around you while at the same time feeling cautious. You kind of keep me on my toes,” He explained.
The rest of the trip was rather uneventful. At least it seemed that way to the band, however, Dexter saw it very differently. While his band was sleeping he was making business calls out the wazoo trying to figure out what was happening with the picture that had been taken.
Dexter wanted to throw his phone out of the plane once he heard the answer “Are you kidding me?” he hissed into the phone, “those horrible low-down-“ the person on the other side of the phone had cut him off. Dexter waited for a bit as the other end finished, “uh-huh well… look the situation at hand would be a lot better if we could-“ Again he was cut off again and he was shooting a glare at Yuji and Akira. If only Yuji hadn’t kissed her, if only if didn’t look wanted if only a lot of things really. He sighed and nodded “Yes. Okay,” he said and hung up.
After that, the plane landed and Dexter was rushing everyone to the studio, which seemed to annoy only Aeron and Ray as Akira and Yuji seemed to know what was going on. Sure enough Dexter nodded to Akira and then mini stage. “The floor is yours,” he said and waited.
Aeron glared at Akira, finally understanding what they were doing in the studio. “Oh hell no! This is not going to happen,” he growled, “it’s not like he’s good anyway,” he said, making sure that he did his best to emphasize ‘he.’
