Akira looked back slightly when he felt the other come closer to him. “What?” he questioned in the sudden turn of events. “I- Aeron, I wasn’t serious. I mean, I was, but I didn’t mean... That’s not why…” he trailed off.
“Oh come off it, Akira. We both know that's the real reason. You just admitted it. Why not just accept it? Are you willing to dress up as a woman or not? I could even get Dexter to write up the contract and get it up here in a matter of minutes. It would be a standard contract…minus a tiny part that states you are to do whatever I ask,” he whispered. “Doesn’t that sound fair? After all, I owe you no favors."
“No, Aeron, I didn’t want…I just wanted to apologize. I wronged you. I was young and stupid then. I should have realized how big of a crush you had on me,” he bit his lip “that I had on you. I felt bad.”
Aeron scoffed, “Oh yeah, so after five years you just suddenly decided that you were a witch and were going to come over and apologize for throwing me to the side like garbage. Ha. I’m not stupid, Akira. You want exactly what you just said, fame and fortune. So, fine. I can give it to you. Introduce you to the right people and everything. Just say the word Akira, and I’ll give it all to you. You just have to give me the time of day. I’m sure you can handle that for just a little while, can’t you? You did it just fine back in high school.”
“Aeron. I’m-“ Akira stopped talking, there was no getting through to this man, he hadn’t changed in the slightest since high school. After a bit of hesitation, Akira finally nodded. Not because it was something that he really wanted, it wasn't. Though he had to admit on some very deep level perhaps that was the reason he had shown up to the concert, because he thought that after he apologized to Aeron that he would help him in his own selfish endeavors. “I- okay,” he said and let out a breath he didn’t realize he had been holding. “I’ll do it.”
“Good.” Aeron stated and headed towards the phone, “we’ll sign the papers tomorrow, show up here dressed and ready to go, we leave tomorrow as well.” he smiled and picked up the phone, dialing a room number, “Dexter? Hey, could you…get a contract ready. Yes, we’ll be adding a new member to the dance team tomorrow. No, no, nothing is wrong with the others I’m just…helping out an old friend.” He said, smirking at Akira. “Oh yes, I just finish auditioning her, she’ll be wonderful.”
Akira fidgeted when Aeron looked at him in such a way, he felt even dirtier for this than he did for anything else that he had ever tried to do before. Akira did not have an easy time in dance, though his moves were flawless. His frame did nothing for him. He wasn’t as strong as the other males and couldn’t do lifts or anything. When he was next to a woman it made him look even more feminine and couples dances just looked awkward on him. Yet, if he put female on the resume, which he had done once or twice before, he would soon be discovered because of the female outfits. Tutus didn’t do much for the male body when everything else was tight as all get out. He had thought about tucking before, but that was just hard to do when you were dancing like a ballerina.
And now he would be forced to dress up as a woman and dance as one if only to prove to the other that he was sorry. “This will….this will prove to you how sorry I am, right?” he asked after a little while. “You want me to dress up like a woman and prance around for you?” he folded his arms and huffed.
Aeron hung up the phone and looked over to Akira, “Of course it will,” he said, though his face showed a completely different answer. “If you are actually sorry, you’ll do it, won’t you? Once you signed the contract it’s all over, you’re mine for the rest of the tour. If you are really as good as I remember you’ll have no trouble finding a job from my stage. A lot of the girls we have hired have gone on to bigger and better things,” he said. “I can even introduce you to some dance directors that I know, ones that will get you any job you want,” he smiled, “and yeah, can’t have anyone knowing that you are a guy, too many questions would crop up. Trust me. They are gonna believe that you slept your way into the job. They’ve seen your face, hell, they think you are a girl anyway. So who gives a crap?”
Akira felt more stung by the smile than anything else. He hadn’t seen it in such a long time. “Aeron, don’t you think we should talk about what happened that night. I mean, for real this time. No hurtful words or anything.”
“No. Aeron. I don’t think we should. Just go home.” Akira said, looking away from his hidden boyfriend. “You aren’t good for me. Angie and Annabelle…they, well, they think that you would harm my chances at getting into Julliard. And honestly, I think you will too. I need to stay focused.” Akira said, not able to look Aeron in the eye. “We aren’t really good for each other really. I’m from a completely different world than yours. I’m a ballerina… you’re… well, not.” He said.
Aeron stared at the beauty before him, glancing past him towards the stage that Akira was about to dance on. He had come back stage with some flowers and a serious question. He wanted to take Akira out on a date following the recital, he planned the whole evening. They would go to a rock concert of the band that was playing the song that was playing that night they had met. Then they would go for a walk in the park and finally go home and spend the night the only way that two people in love should. “What…” he said slowly, “Are you…are you breaking up with me because I’m not rich?” he asked.
“Akira, one minute!” called someone closer to the stage. Akira looked back towards the voice and the stage before looking back at Aeron.
“No, I- I just don’t think things will work out, Aeron. You know how important getting into Julliard is to me. I have to ace this recital and the rest that come after it. When I’m with you I get lax with my studies and training. It’s bad for me. Plus, we wouldn’t work anyways. You’d get bored of me and eventually find someone that is in love with the same disgusting music that you are,” he said. “Just. Just go home and leave me alone, Aeron.”
“No. Akira. I don’t think we should. Just go home and get ready for tomorrow. Remember, I’m a rocker, not some classical nut job.” He said, “Make it look like you understand rockers.” He said, looking away as he remembered that night all too vividly.
Akira was about to protest but saw that now was just not the time. He nodded and headed out the door and back to his apartment. Once he was back there he, unfortunately, had to wake up his landlord, explaining that he would be paying up the next months’ rent and this was his notice that he was leaving. He would have someone come pick up his stuff sometime next week. After his disgruntled landlord finally accepted the money he headed up to his apartment and started to pack. It was rather hard to pack for ‘rocker girl’ as he had never really been into that type of life, but he somehow managed. He would have to get some stuff while they were on tour though. Maybe have Aeron help him.
He sighed and finished up with what he had.
