Chapter 5
More days passed and I was fed cooked meat, showered, teeth cleaned, nails trimmed, and always had my arm messed with.
“....He… looks incredibly similar to Max right?” Jay said slowly.
Sarah, the Doctor was pale as she nodded.
Similar, Max, right.
Max, Max, Max.
What was a Max?
I was fed, had my teeth brushed and remuzzled before Sarah grabbed my arm and I growled as I felt a painful sensation come from there.
Sarah moved away, looking at me startled.
The rest of the humans jumped, looking at me in shock.
I hissed, my arm was sore from whatever she had done and I moved away from her.
Sarah’s eyes widened at me.
“Did you feel that?”
You, feel.
I felt that.
Was that what she was asking?
I let out another growl when she moved to place the sticky thing on my arm.
I didn't want her to touch it.
She raised both hands up as a sign of surrender after she had placed the thing on my arm.
She looked at me in mild amusement and slight joy.
The humans left.
I laid down on the bed, staring up at the ceiling.
I could feel my fingers inside the mittens and slowly flexed them.
I turned my head and looked out the cell after some time had passed.
I stared at a red light just across the room and watched it change.
I didn't know how to read it but it was something to tell time, I knew.
How I knew I wasn't sure.
The light had changed many many times when Sarah and the humans arrived again.
Once again I was fed, teeth cleaned, and Sarah slowly, deliberately grabbed my arm, watching me.
I blinked, I had felt her touch my arm…..and it was so sensitive.
I didn't like that.
I let out a hiss and then a roar as pain flared from my arm.
I flailed, trying to get away from her.
Suddenly the lights were too bright in the room, everyone's scent was too strong.
Hands held me down and I hated it, they felt so weird and odd and too much.
I flailed, letting out hisses and growls as the humans bound me to the bed.
The sheets felt weird, the blanket was odd, scratching at my skin and the restraints hurt when I pulled.
I was growling and my eyes were turning everywhere.
I felt a desire to hide somewhere and I didnt know why.
I couldn't calm myself as I squirmed and hissed as the humans were still touching me.
Their hands were hot and hard, painful as they held my limbs down.
“Let go of him. I think you are making it worse.” Sarah ordered.
The men hesitantly let go but I was still bound.
I squirmed against the bindings.
They hurt so I stopped after a few moments.
The lights hurt my eyes so I shut them.
I let out a groan.
It sounded similar to a sob.
“.....Dim the lights….” Sarah said and the light shining even past my lids got better.
I slowly cracked my eyes open and looked at the ceiling.
“Remove the bindings….” Sarah said.
The humans carefully removed them and I wanted to cry in relief.
They all left me alone and I turned to stare at the time telling thing across the room from my cell.
The blanket under me scratched at my skin uncomfortably.
I slowly stood up and walked as far as the chain would let me, to stare at the red light.
I could feel my clothing against my skin and it was so odd.
So very very odd.
With my bound hands I struggled to move the blanket away and towards the end of the bed.
I ended up pacing for some time for no reason.
It felt weird to move my limbs but I think I was ok with it.
I kind of wanted a *shower*.
What would water feel like?
The chain made a clunking sound as I moved and I paused.
I repeated the movement I made and it clanged again.
This sound was ok.
I could always hear a beeping noise from somewhere in the building but as I paced the sound got too repetitive for my liking.
I was feeling very strange and I really didn't like it.
The sun had started to rise and the humans returned, eyeing me warily since I wasn't in bed like usual.
“He's been doing this all night.” Sarah said as she opened my cell.
The humans came in and to their normal spots, watching me stand there.
Doing, night, all.
Yes I've been doing this all night.
Hesitantly Sarah pointed to the bed and I stilled before walking to the bed and laying down, taking position to have a feeding.
The humans looked at me oddly, seeing as they usually had to move my arms above my head to tie them down.
But this time I had done it myself.
I was fed, teeth brush, and then Sarah pulled out a syringe.
How had I not noticed it was a syringe all this time?
I looked at Sarah and blinked.
Wait...don't I know her face?
I felt the pain too late and growled again, flailing away.
Sarah sighed.
After I calmed she put the metallic thing on my chest and listened to my heart.
“His heart rate is…. Getting faster…” Her voice was full of awe.
Faster, heart, kind of.
I blinked.
Words.
Words sounded weird.
I was left alone and started to pace again, looking around the room as I focused on any and everything.
I had an odd feeling, a very odd feeling of needing to be doing something and I didnt know what.
My fingers felt weird inside the mittens and I itched to touch things.
I looked down at them.
I kept wiggling them inside the mittens for a long time before looking back at the time telling thing.
I still did not understand what the red lines on it meant but I wanted to figure it out.
I was pretty sure I stared at it the entire night as the humans returned.
Again normal routine, fed, teeth cleaned, stabbed by a syringe and me growling.
But this time the humans brought in a table, placing it within my reach.
A lump of something green was placed on it and I stared in confusion.
A human came and took my mittens off but kept my hands tied to each other.
I would have the ability to move my fingers and maybe touch things…..
The humans left and I stared at the weird lump on the table before deciding to investigate.
It felt cool to the touch.
It moved whenever I applied pressure and I realized you could make it into shapes.
I ended up mostly tearing it all up into pieces on the table though.
The humans came back by morning, looking at the mess on the table.
Sarah grinned at it.
“At least it's all on the table and not on the floor?”
Again the same occurrence and was left alone.
I stared at the ripped pieces of green and decided to put them all back together.
It looked better together.
I flattened the lump and then rolled it into a long line.
Slowly I twisted it into a circle.
It looked odd and I didnt like it.
I turned it back into a lump and flattened it again.
By the time the humans returned I had made lines out of it, looking like the bars on the cell.
It was what I saw in front of me and what ended up being the easiest to make.
The humans looked at what I had made and one of them eventually looked at the cell bars.
“Ah…..he made the bars...I think.” the black haired man said and pointed.
Yes, I did.
I liked what I had made.
I was about to go back to the bed for my feeding when the green stuff was removed from the table and a tray placed on it instead.
What I was normally fed was on it along with a smaller white thing.
I stared in confusion.
Sarah stood on the other side.
Slowly a human came over and pulled off my muzzle before backing away quickly.
I stared.
None of the humans were in reach to grab and I honestly didn't feel like trying either even though I was hungry.
But technically with my fingers semi free and mouth now free I could bite if they got close.
Yet...I felt no desire to at all.
So…….weird.
Sarah made a come here motion and I walked to the table, eyeing her hesitantly.
“Feed.” She said and backed away.
I looked down at the tray.
The white thing had points on it so I figured it was what I was supposed to use to eat with.
My hand picked it up and moved it to grab a chunk of brown meat.
I brought it to my mouth and fed.
It felt weird doing it myself.
I ate the whole tray and slowly blinked as the humans removed it and replaced it with the same thing that was always put in my mouth after meals.
It had a weird blue thing on it and I looked up at Sarah in confusion.
She made a motion over her mouth, the same motion she always had done when cleaning my teeth.
I understood but found it weird I was being made to do it instead.
I picked it up and brushed my teeth, swallowing the cold stuff.
“Hah…..imagine if he learns to shower by himself now….” One of the men said.
The muzzle was replaced and my hands were mittened again, much to my displeasure.
I got poked with the syringe and had the sticky thing put on me as always.
They removed my mittens and put the green lump back on the table.
I was left alone to play with the green thing again.
I ripped it apart and put it back together.
I rolled it into a ball and smashed it.
I decided I prefer the ball and made it as perfect as possible.
Happy with myself once it looked so perfect it shined.
A few days like this passed where I fed myself, cleaned my teeth but was still always poked and then left alone to play with the green lump.
Eventually I got kinda bored with it and let out a sigh as I stared down at it, trying to figure out what to do with it.
The humans appeared to notice my boredom and replaced the lump with 2 different things.
One was a multi colored cube with little smaller different colored cubes all over it.
The other was a bunch of small blocks.
For a few nights I preferred to mess with the blocks, making tall things and I think something like a house.
But eventually I moved to the cube, even sitting on the bed with it as I turned and twisted it.
I liked the colors being in all different order.
One day the humans brought in my meal and I stood up, freezing when I saw it was different,
There was still the normal meat on it but also some small white shapes with red on part of the side.
A cup of something was also next to the tray.
I hesitantly went over to it in utter confusion.
I looked at Sarah, the woman who had looked more and more familiar by the day.
“Feed.” She said and gestured to the tray.
I grabbed the fork and ate the meat like normal but stared down at the white chunks before slowly stabbing one with the white tool.
I carefully took a bite and my eyes widened from the taste.
I crunched the sweet tasting food and ate it all before backing up to the bed and nearly falling on it.
The humans stared at me, seeming surprised at my reaction.
I looked at Sarah and she smiled before pointing at the cup.
She made a gesture of picking it up and bringing it to her mouth, tipping her head back.
Drink it, is what she meant.
I went over and picked it up, leaning the cup back and taking a mouthful.
There wasn't much of a taste but as soon as I swallowed my body craved to drink it all.
I felt like I had been in the desert my whole life as I gulped it all down, staring at it once it emptied.
I slowly replaced it and backed away.
The humans put my toothbrush on the table along with a tube this time.
I stared in confusion before noticing the blue stuff wasn't on the brush like normal.
I picked up the tube and opened it.
I had seen the humans do it before so I copied putting it on the brush and cleaned my own teeth.
Everything was very….odd.
