The faint scent of honey haunted Colt for the next few days, swearing he caught whiffs of it every so often tormenting him with how he had acted that evening. Sage didn't dare go near him after that. Colt shoving him against the wall was more than enough for him to get the picture that he wasn't wanted here. Sad to say he was happy to hear that Mike wanted to speak with him again that he had good news.
Colt said he had things he needed to do so he had Tank come pick him up and take him to the clubhouse. In reality, Colt couldn't face Sage, he hadn't been able to look at him since that night. Mike was waiting in his office for him when he got there.
"So it's official, you're one of us now." Smiled Mike, his smile looked just like Colt's when he chose to show such emotions. "I've already got a job lined up for you as well. One I hope you'll like if not we can change it in time."
"I'd take anything, Sir." He didn't want to make waves so soon after being let into their ranks.
"Perfect, I've placed you with Miss Kelly. She runs the daycare for us and we've been looking for a second pair of hands to help her out for a while."
Mike felt that placing Sage with the pups would be easy on him. He could learn a thing or two from them but he could also feel comfortable there. Sage was not so sure how he would do with pups since he's never had any experience with them but he was excited about the placement.
"If I may?" He spoke up just before leaving the office, "Could I ask to be housed somewhere else?"
"Why?" Mike questioned with a hard tone.
"I . . . I just don't want to burden Colt anymore. He's done everything you've asked of him. I'm drug-free. I've put on twelve pounds since coming to live with him but I know he's a young alpha. Having me around just puts a damper on his life."
Sage worded it the best he could. Not wanting his request to be seen as Colt not doing what his father asked of him but something he decided on his own. Feeling it would be best if they parted ways. It hurt him to say but he knew it was for the best. Colt couldn't even look at him after what he did so he needed to move on.
"I have been getting on him about finding a mate for a while now." Laughed Mike, his son was almost thirty he needed to start thinking about settling down with someone.
Still, he arched an eyebrow at Sage maybe he was wrong with his initial thinking about the two of them. "If that's what you want just give me a few days to figure something out."
It took him just that too to find Sage another place to stay. One of the older couples of the pack had a spare room that they were willing to let Sage stay in for the time being. He would have his own bathroom as well just had to share their kitchen. Colt didn't give any protest to Sage leaving. If anything he acted as if it was the relief he had been waiting for. Letting Sage go without a word. Leaving things on a worse note than when they first met.
Colt let Sage leave thinking he hated him more than ever. He wouldn't lie it hurt his inner omega getting to the point of feeling comfortable around Colt building trust with him just to have it ripped away. Letting his mind play him into thinking that maybe there was something between them. All those daydreams of his just being false hopes.

It was almost a month that went by before Sage saw Colt again at the clubhouse. He had come in with Miss Kelly to grab a few things she needed from the back storage. Colt thought he would have seen Sage at the monthly run last week but he didn't. Finding out later that he said he wasn't feeling up to it strength-wise just yet so Mike let him stay home.
"That one on one run is still open if you want to take me up on it." Comment Colt stopping Sage as he passed by him.
Reaching his hand out to stop him in his path. "I know it only gets harder with each moon. Can't hold out forever."
Sage didn't know what to think of him offering again. His green eyes not looking up from the floor, "I appreciate it thank you but I'm okay."
"You look good, Mrs. Pots feeding you more than I did, I see."
Sage cracking a slight smile, "She's stricter than you were too."
At least when it came to eating. Not finishing a plate she made was a huge offense to her. Mrs. Pots took pride in everything she made and Sage could taste it too, she cooked with love.
"Alright Sage, this is the last of it." Spoke Kelly coming from the back with the last two boxes she needed.
Colt caught himself brushing his fingers through Sage's locks. His hair was always so wild about his head, never wanting to lay down. Snapping out of it when Sage said he had to go, that Kelly was waiting on him. He hadn't even heard her as she walked by the two of them. Motioning for Sage to go which Sage waited for before walking off as a lower rank he needed to be dismissed before leaving.
