The smell of bacon being fried woke Sage the next morning the scent hitting his nose with a jolt. Whimpering as he went to move the heavy blankets from himself. Not recalling getting into Colt's bed last night. He had to place him here after the bath. Wearing one of the over-sized tee shirts that fit him more like a dress than anything else. Getting about halfway to the edge when Colt walked in snapping his fingers quickly motioning him to move back.
"Don't even think about getting up."
"I can eat at the island."
"Today you'll eat here and every day till I say otherwise." Using the same tone as last night, not an order but one that told you not to try him.
"I want you to eat all of it too. You're too skinny. Need to focus on getting stronger and putting on weight. That's all I want you to be concerned about."
Colt placed the plate down on Sage's lap; bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns, toast with both butter and jelly. It was honestly way too much for him to ever eat.
"All of it." Restated Colt as he left the room.
When Colt went back in a little later to check on him Sage had only made a dent in what was on his plate.
"It's too much."
"Fine, half then."
Sage was so used to consuming scraps that his stomach could only handle just that scraps. Forcing himself to eat at least half of what was on his plate. Colt staring at him from the end of the bed wasn't helping him either. Thanking him as he took the plate away. Laying back down in bed only waking up to take more medications and when dinner was ready.
Colt ran him a bath each evening as well with the same herbs as before. Not letting him walk on his own, carrying him too and from each time. The next three days passed like that. Sage started to question if something Colt was giving him was making him sleep so much because he never slept like this before.
"When can I stop taking these?" He finally worked up the nerve to ask about the pills.
"Why?"
Sage shrugging his shoulders at him.
"Okay." Colt taking a deep breath, "Shoulder shrugging is no longer allowed. You either don't ask or answer."
He absolutely couldn't stand the shoulder shrugging, some of his frustration showing in him. He had been so good over the last few days being nice to Sage. Waiting hand and foot on him wanting to rid himself of the guilt he felt from letting him get attacked. Thus far that feeling hasn't changed in the slightest if anything he felt more for Sage. A part of him liked taking care of him. A part that wasn't anywhere close to admitting that either. Denying such feelings within himself.
"So why don't you want to take them?"
"I . . . I . . . I feel you might be . . . drugging me. . ." Sage didn't look up from his hands tensing up waiting for some kind of backlash for questioning him.
Colt laughed for the first time, since meeting Sage, "Drugging you?"
Shaking his head "I'm not Patrick but I mean if you really think about it technically the answer is yes."
He was in fact giving him medications to take and Sage was just taking his word on what they actually were doing for him thus far.
Moving over to him, "The white one is just an antibiotic like before. Stitch says to take for at least seven days and the other one is for pain so if you don't want that one then don't take it but you're taking the white one."
Sage glancing at Colt, "What kind of pain medication?"
Smirking, "Percocet."
Well, he's had things way stronger than that in the past and he's never slept like this. Looking at the pill then at Colt, "I don't want it."
Giving it back to Colt and swallowing the antibiotic.
"If you decide you do want it, tell me. Don't lay here in pain suffering for no reason."
Even without taking the pain medication he still slept well into the next morning with ease. This time not waiting for Colt to come in, he got up out of bed. His legs a bit wobbly as he moved holding onto the door frame so he wouldn't fall. His wounds were pretty much healed at this point still brandished with fresh pink scarring which over time will darken or go away.
"I thought I told you not to get up until I said otherwise." Growled Colt, as he walked in from the small balcony that looked in on the living room and kitchen.
Slamming the sliding door harder than he meant to. Sage jumping from his tone and the sound of the door. Quickly sinking back into the scared little omega that he was. Eyes darting to the floor, showing his cowardliness.
"I can't lay in bed another day." He finally spoke, "If you want me to gain strength I need to be up and moving, get some fresh air."
"You want fresh air? I can open the window."
Colt moved over towards him motioning for him to get back into bed but he didn't move. Leaning down to pick him up to carry him back Sage actually stuck his hand out in protest.
"I don't want to sleep anymore. That's why I asked if you were drugging me. I don't want to sleep." Sage pleading in his tone.
"I haven't given you anything to make you sleep." Minus the lavender, he put in his bath that was it with the intentions of that to be something to calm him.
"I think it's just you catching up on all the sleep you've missed out on."
Colt running his hand over his short hair, that was his honest thinking on the matter. He was somewhere he felt somewhat safe and his body was just cashing in on it. Lifting Sage's head to look at him, feeling the hesitation in his body as he touched him.
"If you feel up to it then come but as soon as I feel like it's too much you're going back to bed."
Maybe he was overdoing the resting but thus far he was sure it was something Sage needed. Both for recovery after the attack and just from the lack there of in his life. Hawking in on his attention towards Sage, overcompensating for his faults in character before. Colt really didn't know what he was doing here. His father giving him a run for his money with this task.
Sage happily took a seat on the sofa. He really was over laying in bed and sleeping all day. What Colt said played over in his mind as he sat there maybe he was catching up on all the times he's missed getting sleep in the past.
