I ran over the space monkey by accident. Then I noticed the renegade points, and proceeded to slaughter the entire colony, even after I realized that I only got points for the first one. Worth it.
I really could not drive the mako. It was so bad that every time someone mentioned driving anywhere in ME2 I was filled with dread, and every time it was revealed that there was no mako to drive only a cutscene implying that it had been done... great, glorious relief.
And no, I didn't like the hammerhead either, though it was easier to control. I sneezed and it broke. Ugh.

Sometimes it felt like purposely trying to crash the Mako caused me to drive it better
