It turns out that Abby's teacher lived only a few streets over in a duplex. The drive there had been surprisingly comfortable. It started off with some awkward small talk but delved into an easy silence with just classic rock playing softly over the radio and an occasional gentle snore from Abby.
"You can stop here, Mr. McKinley. This is it..." Sasha said motioning with a finger toward the quaint duplex home. Nice old brick, little porch out front and definitely at least two stories.
Jack whistled his appreciation. "Nice place. Ye own it or just renting?"
Sasha glanced at Jack before looking back at the building. "Yes and no? My maternal grandmother owns it but I rent the space on the right there. A cousin of mine lives next door." He flushed just a little. He said this confidently but in truth he was a bit embarrassed. His rent wasn't even that much. He hated relying so much on his family but both sides of it were very in each others lives. Keeping secrets were very difficult.
Jack observed Sasha closely, noting the blush and his pensive look. "That's awesome. Must be nice to be so close to family. Other than than my sister the rest of me family is back in Scotland." He smiled.
Sasha turned toward him and seeing his smile and the care in his voice he couldn't help but return it albeit small. "Yeah...I guess so. Thanks for the ride, Mr.-"
"Jack."
Sasha rolled his eyes and sighed but acquiesced with a slight smile. "Thank you, Jack."
The man in questioned grinned from ear to ear at hearing his name finally. He stared for a few beats before Sasha cleared his throat.
"Um, could you..." The young teacher motioned toward the driver's side door.
"Oh! Right...sorry, yes." He opened the door and got out, helping Sasha get down from the cab. Sasha felt very self-conscious though as Jack kept staring so intently with a happy smirk. Jack even walked the man up to his door like a proper gentlemen but really he mostly just wanted to spend the extra time.
"I'll get back to ye tomorrow about the guy I know."
Sasha looked confused. "The guy?"
"Ye know for yer car," Jack replied with a tilt of his head.
"Oh, right, yes of course. Thank you again."
Silence proceeded for a minute and Sasha awkwardly unlocked his door. "Well goodnight."
"Goodnight, Sasha." Jack grinned again and managed to walk backwards down the stairs up til the last step when he stumbled a bit. Sasha had to hold back a laugh.
"Careful," Sasha said, hiding a smile.
"Ah, yeah. Sweet dreams!" He chuckled nervously and rubbed the back of his head before finally starting to make his way back to the truck.
Once inside, Sasha sighed leaning against the door a moment. He peeked through the curtain of the front window watching Jack finally drive off. "Fuck, this is bad." He banged his head once against the wall. He was definitely feeling a spark and that scared him.
Suddenly his phone rang, startling him. It was his cousin who lived next door. "Amelia."
"Sash, spill the tea right now!"
"What?" He dropped off his bag and made his way to the kitchen.
"Who was that stud that just dropped you off?"
