George
As the door opened and a young lady had emerged from the other side, it felt as though my heart had somehow skipped a beat. “Who is this lady?” was what I had mentally asked myself before clearing my throat and started to speak.
“Hello, my name is George, and I will be your RA for the year,” I declared affirmatively.
At that moment, the lady smiled and then tried really hard to hold back what I assumed was laughter. After she succeeded, she looked at me straight in the eye and it felt as though she was trying to look deep within my soul.
“You are George Kastrioti, aren’t you?” she asked after what seemed like forever.
I just nodded, and she moved aside, gesturing me to come on in. I quickly walked in and she closed the door. Almost as soon as she did that, one of the other women pushed me against the wall, sword ready to be pulled out while the other gasped for air. I knew the girl who gasped as the one I gave the schedules to and said I was going to come back in a half hour. In this situation, one small misstep could mean a near death experience from the armed woman.
“Will you quit it Morgan, he is just our RA,” the lady that answered the door, while adding, “and Anne, didn’t you say you just saw the RA?”
“Yes, I did mention that just before he arrived” Anne had responded, still shocked at the event, all the while the sword was still at my throat.
So, the girl from earlier is named Anne, and the lady who seems to be ready to kill me is Morgan. I wonder who the lady who answered the door just now out of the three of them. However, before I even realized what they were doing next, Morgan had released me and the unknown lady was standing in front of me. After finally feeling relief from the three of them, I stood a bit straight and finally started talking.
“Look, uh….” I began, but I trailed off in order to get a name out of her.
“Isabella,” she responded quickly.
“Right…..look Isabella, after I came here the first time, Anne had explained that you and your roommate Morgan didn’t wake up yet so I thought that I would come back after I went around the other apartments I’m in charge of before coming back,” I explained, uncertain about what to expect next.
The three of them seemed to still be ready for something, but by the time they glanced at each other, Isabella nodded her head and Anne sighed of relief while Morgan sheathed her sword. I tried to hold back the look of intrigue as I was finally able to fully relax in front of them. I was curious as to how the three of them worked so efficiently without doing any proper classes together. That was when I shifted my eyes to Isabella, who was looking at me, a mixture of curiosity and caution plastered on her face. I looked at her, wondering as to what she would say or do next.
“Sorry about Morgan, she usually isn’t like that,” Isabella said apologetically.
“It’s alright, I just wasn’t expecting that kind of response when coming into someone’s dorm,” I answered, still being careful with my words around the three ladies before me.
Isabella nodded in response before asking, “With that out of the way, is there anything else you would like from us other than checking up on the three of us?”
I shook my head in response and Isabella gave me a small smile. The moment she did, it felt as though butterflies had hit the pit of my stomach and was trying to come out of me. Something about Isabella is somehow causing me to feel something toward her. At that moment, I thought that maybe she was a mage. Mages are usually the type of people who causes someone to feel like this from the flow of mana within them. It took me a moment before I realized that I was looking directly at her and she was smiling from ear to ear.
“So, you have noticed that I use magic, didn’t you?” Isabella announced curiously.
As if on cue, it felt as though a weight had been put in my stomach and had plummeted a few inches. I had fallen onto my knees almost immediately and slowly looked up to Isabella. She seemed quite a bit shocked, as though she wasn’t prepared for me to do so and that weight was lifted almost immediately. It took me a moment to try and not faint right then and there. I didn’t even know I was holding my breath, because I soon realized that I was gasping a bit for air.
“I’m so sorry, sometimes I forget that my magic is a bit too strong for some people to handle,” Isabella explained, horror a bit obvious in her tone.
It took me a moment before I had finally gathered myself and steadily got back to my feet. All the mages in their pupil class had never had this much mana power like Isabella. I should be more worried if she is an enemy rather than an ally.
“I’m fine, so don’t worry about it,” I responded as soon as I felt well enough to speak.
For a moment I had thought that Isabella was concerned about me, but it was only on for a split second before relief had replaced it and settled across her face. I looked towards Morgan and Anne and obvious hints of confusion and concern were more present in their features than it was on Isabella. Anne started to walk on over but I put a hand up to stop her before she came too close.
“Don’t worry about healing me, I just need to walk it off,” I responded, smiling in affirmation.
Her look of concern was apparent before nodding in response and went back to where she was standing just a moment ago. It seems as though all three of these young ladies have what it takes to be part of this university and I can’t believe that my dad of all people had found them through sheer luck. I have to hand it to him, asking Dark Druid Adam to find such students was an incredible idea. We might have a splendid Freshman class yet.
“Well, I have to head out and start getting ready for my class, so if you all need me, I left my contact card to each of your envelopes attached with a paper clip so then I can answer it as best I could,” I said after there was a bit of awkward silence.
The three of them nodded and I headed towards the door. As I grabbed the door handle and opened the door, I looked towards the three of them one more time before stepping out into the hallway and closing the door behind me. Before walking away from the door, I looked at it once again before sighing and walking to the direction of my dorm room.
