– One year ago, a few weeks before Halloween –

“Hey Jamie, do you want to dress up for Halloween this year too?”

Evan and Jamie where at Jamie’s house, watching an episode of Sailor Moon on his laptop. Despite his joking attitude and skaterboy looks, the guy was surprisingly sweet, Evan had noticed. He loved anything that sparkled and even had a glass cabinet in his room to showcase his steadily growing collection of Sailor Moon merchandise. Manga, transformation rods, keychains, figurines, you name it.

“Hm, I do, but I’m not quite sure as what I want to dress up this year.”

They continued watching the show. It was finally the moment where the outer senshi revealed their identity to the inner senshi.

“You look kinda like Haruka,” Jamie remarked, watching his boyfriend curiously, an idea forming in his head already, “You should cosplay Sailor Uranus for Halloween.”

Evan grinned. “You want to see me in a skirt that badly?”

Jamie shot him a cheeky smile back. “You would look good in it though.”

“Then as who will you cosplay?”

Jamie hadn’t quite thought about that yet.

“Sailor Neptune would be the logical choice, but I don’t really like wearing wigs, so I think I’ll go for Mars. Easier with the hair.”

Evan laughed. Ofcourse the guy wanted to show off his hair.

“Fine with me. So, what are we gonna do? Do you want to go trick or treating this year too?”

“Nah, don’t really feel like it. We could go to a party though. My cousin is planning on organizing one, and he said he wanted to do a special Halloween gig too.”

“Oh yeah, he’s the leadsinger of TI(G)GER right?”

Jamie nodded. It had been a while since he had seen Alex, so he was eager to take the opportunity to meet him again. Evan on the other hand, had never met him before.

“Cool! Then it’s settled. But no drinking, okay?”

The long-haired boy grinned and petted his lover’s hair.

“Sure, sure. Such a good boy.”

“You know it,” Evan grinned a devilish smile.

– Halloween evening, at the party –

The location of the party was a big house, probably the home of one of Alex’s many connections. The living room was cleared of any furniture and turned into a makeshift stage. TI(G)GER was performing Lucifer’s Wings, one of the band’s newest songs.

Evan looked around at the people at the party. Most seemed a bit older than the two of them and they were all wearing fun costumes. He spotted angels, devils, cats, witches and many more. There were even other cosplayers.

“Oh hey, someone is even cosplaying Sailor Moon!” Jamie almost had to shout over the music for Evan to hear. He grinned as his boyfriend took his hand and guided him through the crowd to the girl wearing the classic sailor senshi’s outfit of white, blue and red.

The girl noticed the guys in their costumes and Evan found it funny that she was just as excited to see other Moonies as Jamie was.

“Oh my God, your costumes are amazing! With your hair you look just like Haruka!”

Jamie flashed a grin.

“Told you!”

The girl stuck out her hand. “Sorry, I should introduce myself. I’m Dahlia, a friend of Alex.”

Evan and Jamie shook her hand.

“I’m Jamie and this is my boyfriend Evan.”

Dahlia smiled. “Nice to meet you!”

He still had to get used to the fact that not every person would directly shun him for dating a guy. The people that Jamie surounded himself were totally different from the ones that he himself grew up with. He would have never believed he would be wearing a bodysuit and short skirt to a Halloween party a few years back, and here he was, with the guy that had stolen his heart.

The three of them chatted for a bit until Dahlia said her goodbyes. The friends she had been waiting for had arrived. Even though the party was already a chaos, with people, lights and music all mixed together, Evan finally felt comfortable being who he was around others. These people didn’t judge.

“Come!” Jamie let him by the hand to a room next to the kitchen, “Alex texted me he’s taking a break now, so we can meet him. I want to introduce you to him.”

The lights in the room were on, and it took a few seconds for Evan to adjust to the brightness. They had moved the couch that probably belonged in the living room here, and the band was lounging on it. It wasn’t hard to spot Jamie’s cousin, as he looked quite a bit like him. Short, ink black hair, a tanned skin and striking green eyes. He wore a black tank top with red skulls on it and black, tight-fitting shorts with a set of garters that attached to his kneehigh boots. Evan wondered if all Romanos were this good looking.

“Hey Jamie! Finally found someone to cosplay with?” Alex waved and shot them a cheeky grin.

Jamie shot a similar grin back and sat down next to him, with Evan on his other side. Evan still had to get used to sitting down in a skirt. It was still a pretty short skirt.

“Not just to cosplay with. This is Evan, my boyfriend.”

Slowly, Evan got used to being introduced as Jamie’s boyfriend. It had a nice ring to it. He shook Alex’s hand.

“Hi Evan, nice seeing you for once! Jamie always tells me about you and shows pictures, but it’s nice to see you in real life too.”

“Nice meeting you too! I really loved your songs out there.”

Alex’s band mates introduced themselves too. There was Kail the drummer, Johan the guitarist and Xavier, who played the bass. They all seemed like really open and chill people and Evan could see why Jamie was the same.

After talking about their outfits (Jamie wouldn’t shut up about how it was obvious that Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune were more than friends, or ‘cousins’ in the English version) and Alex showing some of his work on his new songs, the two decided to go to the kitchen for some drinks.

“Be safe!” Alex said and then winked. Odd, but whatever.

When they were out of sight, instead of to the kitchen, Jamie went up the stairs.

“Where are we going?” Evan was not one to like sudden surprises.

“You’ll see!”
