Todoroki's POV
The next day at school I sat alone at lunch. I wasn't particularly hungry that day and instead stared up at the sky. The wispy white clouds passed over the beautiful blue slowly and the breeze shook the trees slightly.
My mind was on Midoriya. His smile, his freckles, his determination. Everything about him was amazing. One simple sentence ran through my mind, "It's your quirk, not his!" This one small yet powerful phrase sparked something inside of me. My mind was stuck on the fight, he seriously hurt himself just trying to beat me and in the end it was for nothing.
I was snapped out of my thoughts as Uraraka sat down across from me at the table. She looked at me with a serious expression. "I'm stepping aside for you, you need to accept your feelings for Deku. If you don't hurry up I will go for him but I really want you two to be a thing." She announced.
"I-I don't like him. He is just my friend. Like my father says, boys can't like other boys." My expression was as it always was.
"That's just ridiculous! Of course somebody can like somebody of the same gender! Your father is wrong." She assured him, "If you try, you can probably get him to like you... Just don't be way over the top." A gentle breeze blew past and Izuku came to sit down.
He blushed when he saw Uraraka. "Whatcha guys talking about?" He asked as he sat down next to me. I could feel my left side get engulfed in flames and I stared down at the table. I felt Ochaco's smirk and Izuku's confusion.
"Oh nothinggg. I have somewhere to be, you stay here and talk." she stood up and left to go talk to Iida.
"So, I'm not really big on talking." The flames receded and I looked at the shorter boy. "Well that's okay! I have plenty to talk about. Did you hear that Mr. Aizawa is taking the class on a trip to a camp to practice our quirks and have fun?" His face was bright and happy like it usually was.
"Um no, I didn't know that. Tell me more?" I had heard about it but I liked hearing his voice.
"The camp is called Camp Hero and we each partner up. Your partner is the person you share a cabin with, of course there will be another pair in the cabin with you though." He started again, "Each pair competes in games together and they use their quirks to help each other."
I smiled a bit at how excited he was but quickly hid the smirk.
"Well, if you haven't already chosen somebody, would you like to be my partner? You are one of my only friends so..." Before Midoriya could answer Katsuki came up.
"Hey Deku! I heard you were injured recently! I can't believe you are so weak!" He sneered in his usual loud voice. Izuku looked down, avoiding his eyes.
"I'd be careful who you call weak, I was injured in the same accident." I stood up and held fire in my hand challenging him.
"My fights with him, not you... I would gladly take you down though." He narrowed his eyes and created a small explosion accepting the challenge.
Midoriya's POV
Why is he defending me to the point where he would fight? I know we're friends but still... I wanted to say something to stop the fight but I couldn't bring myself to words.
Todoroki sent a path of ice towards Katchaan freezing his feet to the floor. Bakugo retaliated with explosions that sent Todoroki backwards and freed himself. Shoto was still recovering and not at his best so it was a hard blow for him.
He shot ice at Bakugo's arms and legs but only managed to freeze one arm. Katchaan created and explosion the knocked Todoroki down.
He didn't stop there, explosions went off all around Todoroki who tried to create walls of ice to protect himself. He was too slow and he was severely hurt but I still couldn't do anything.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw Mina and Mr. Aizawa running up. Mina had seen the smoke and heard the commotion so she ran to get All Might but instead got Mr. Aizawa.
He stopped Bakugo from using his power and I rushed to Todoroki who was knocked out. "What the heck is wrong with you?!" I yelled feeling One for All take over. I was so mad that he would do something like this.
Third Person
A few hours later Todoroki awoke and looked around. He was back in the hospital and couldn't remember anything. Midoriya was asleep in a chair next to his bed, his face held a worried expression.
Shoto looked down at his arms and realised new bandages. His heart almost stopped beating. "No, no, no, no, no... nobody can know." He muttered.
Izuku's eyes fluttered open when he heard Todoroki. "Hey, your finally awake!" He smiled and stood up. "What happened? How long was I out?"
Todoroki's POV
He had just finished telling me the story of what happened to knock me out.
"I was unconscious for a whole day?!" I exclaimed, "No wonder I feel so weak. About being me partner for the trip..."
I looked over to Midoriya who was thinking. "Hmm, I guess I'll be your partner, you did risk a lot to protect me!" He smiled brightly.
The Next Day, Todoroki's POV
We got onto the bus the next morning with all of our stuff. I sat alone as I normally did. I'm used to being alone. I'm meant to be alone. The bus drove through a beautiful forest with thick, tall trees.
I was still a bit injured from the fight but it wasn't much. As soon as the bus arrived at a clearing our stuff began to get unloaded. My cabin was B2, the cabin I would share with Midoriya and two others. I set my stuff down on a bottom bunk knowing that Izuku liked the top.
"I can't believe we are gonna stay here for a week!" Deku announced as he half ran through the door. I smiled slightly at his enthusiasm and laid down on my bed.
"Please change into you hero outfits and head to the gym for practice." Mr. Aizawa's tired voice said on a speaker, "There you will practice fight your partner."
My costume was pretty simple compared some others but I was happy with it. "So, how did you learn to use your power without breaking something?" I asked Midoriya as he came out of the bathroom with his outfit on.
"Oh, the man I was interning with helped me realise that I shouldn't focus all my energy on one place and instead let it be everywhere at once." He smiled and put his mask on. "Lets head out."
The air was clear and it was silent outside. This is strange, why can't I hear anybody? Normally there would be at least some noise...
I shrugged the thought off and headed to where everybody should be but there was nobody. The only sounds were the wind and me and Midoriya's footsteps and breathing. "Where is everybody?" I heard him say.
"I don't know but I don't like this feeling, something is terribly wrong."
