"Hey Ruddol, over here!" Said Maeda. "This is Professor Drinx. He teaches the basics of magic."
"Hi. My name is Ruddol." Said Tekashi.
"Hello there, my boy. As Miss Maeda said, I am one of the teachers here who strive to teach lessons in magic usage." Said Drinx.
"Professor, Ruddol isn't very familiar with magic. Do you think you can teach him a thing or two?" Asked Maeda.
"Hm. I suppose. Tomorrow I'm teaching some new students so you may sit in." Drinx said.
"Thanks." Said Tekashi.
The professor walked off and Maeda said "Well I'll be off as well. See you around!"
Tekashi decided to walk around and check out the stalls. He passed some food stalls, got a strange glowing hotdog, and even decided to play a few games. There was a live show he watched that starred a girl with wings singing some popular music. After all of that, he went back to the hotel and flopped onto the bed.
"As strange as that place was, I had a lot of fun." He said to himself.
The next morning he got up early and went to the class that the professor had mentioned.
"Ah. I'm glad you showed up. We are just about to start. Bear with me everyone while I call roll." The professor said.
After he made sure everyone was present, he began.
"You all came here today to learn about magic and how to use it. However, you need to know its origin. Long ago, there were two kingdoms at war with each other. Both sides were equally matched in strength until one day when the kingdom known as Nepthal received a blessing from their god, Nep, who bestowed upon them the gift of magic. In no time, they wiped out their enemies and soon their population grew to what it is today. Even though the first use of magic was for violence we should not make that our first goal. Magic can help others and improve our lives so let's do the best we can to master this special gift." Explained Drinx.
Everyone in the class was amazed except for Tekashi.
He thought to himself "I don't recall that part of history."
"Now, form groups of two to begin training." Said Drinx.
Tekashi looked around but everyone had already paired off.
"Hey. You're just here for today right?" Said someone behind him.
"Huh? Oh, yeah." Said Tekashi.
"The name's Fawth. Let's practice some magic!" He said.
"So what do I do?" Asked Tekashi.
"Concentrate on your surroundings. Feel the energy in the air. Clear your mind. Then it will flow through you." Said Fawth as he held out his hand and a blue ball formed in his hand.
"Woah. Ok. I'll give it a shot." Tekashi said.
He took a deep breath and then held out his hand. Out of nowhere, lightning hurled out of his hand and erupted above the whole room.
"Tekashi! Stop!" Exclaimed Fawth.
"By God…" said Drinx in awe.
"I guess you need to practice control." Fawth said.
"Mr. Tekashi, please come with me for a moment." Ushered Drinx.
They walked outside and sat down on a bench.
"The tale you heard earlier wasn't the entire truth. You see, Nep wasn't the only god who chose to help humanity. The other kingdom was blessed by the god Tash and while Nep gave his followers light magic, Tash preferred a darker, more uncontrollable type of magic. In all my years of teaching, I've only seen one other person use that kind of magic. What you have is special but you need to be careful because one misstep and you could be led down the wrong path. Some stories say that some who used the magic gifted by Tash have sometimes changed when they can't control it and no longer act like themselves, only following the will of Tash." Explained Drinx.
"What do you think I should do?" Asked Tekashi.
"Remember the young lady, Maeda? She can teach you how to hone your magical abilities. I can fill her in on the situation while you're in class." Drinx said.
"Alright." Tekashi said.
Later…
"Phew. Who knew that magic was so complex? Maybe when I talk to Maeda she can help me understand more." Tekashi said to himself.
He stopped by the hotel and took a nap. Afterward, he thought he'd relax in the hotel's hot tub for a while.
"Ahh. This is nice. At least the hot tubs are the same here." He said.
"Yeah. They sure are great." Said someone else.
"Huh?" Tekashi said as he opened his eyes.
"Hi!" Said Maeda.
Tekashi froze and turned red. He didn't expect to see Maeda let alone see her in the same hot tub as him.
"H-hi. What a-are you doing here?" He asked, trying to compose himself.
"Well, I'm staying at this hotel. Why else would I be here?" She said.
"Oh, right. *Ahem*. Did Professor Drinx tell you about class today?" He asked.
"Yeah, he told me everything. What an amazing gift you have! It would be an honor to train you Ruddol." She said.
"Um, about my name...it's actually Tekashi." He said.
"Hm. I like Ruddol better! Can I call you Ruddol from now on." She said.
"Wha? It's just a name I made up!" He said.
"Would you prefer Rudy-chan?" She said with a smug face.
"Please just use my real name." He said.
"Alright, fine. Hey, my room is SK-7. Meet me there in an hour and we can start training." She said.
As she got up and left, Tekashi's face got red again and he said to himself "So cute!"
After going back to his room and changing clothes, he strolled over to room SK-7. He knocked on the door and Maeda quickly answered.
"Come in, Tekashi!" She said.
"Woah! This room is so cool! *Gasp* Is that what I think it is!?" He said as he pointed at some books.
"Yep. I'm a big fan of his work." She said.
"I think the girl with the robotic leg is so cool! I can't wait for the fifth book to come out!" He said.
"Alright enough looking at my stuff. Let's begin training!" She said.
"Yeah! This is going to be awesome!" He said.
