Inside the mansion,
Despite the nun giving him a sound explanation, Lukas stubbornly kept on questioning Ray. Each moment Lukas asks a question, he got a swift 'I don't remember' in reply. The fruitless interrogation goes on for a whole hour, after which Lukas Muller gives up.
"Looks like we are getting nowhere like this?"
"I was hoping to get at least something out of you before I report my findings to the Guild."
"it's not like I am skilled in interrogation tactics else by now, I would have broken you for sure."
Lukas raises his right hand forward and unleashes the restraints binding ray to the bed.
"here you go."
"for now, we don't know your identity."
"You could be anyone for all I know, but the Guild's law dictates that I should treat you with dignity whether you are a citizen or a noble."
"naturally, all that changes if you are a criminal."
"as we don't know who you are, I can't set you free, but I also cant treat you as a criminal so let us make a deal, shall we."
"What deal?"
Ray asks.
"You will, at all times, have to stay inside the mansion till we figure out how to deal with you."
"breaking the condition would mean you are a criminal."
"and trust me, you don't want to be one right now."
"Fair enough, I Accept."
The conversation ends, Lukas leaves the room.
After some time passes, the nun also leaves the room, which finally gives Ray some room to breadth.
"Finally..."
Ray sighs relief. he immediately starts crunching strategies inside his cunning head.
"haaa.. haaa.. haa.."
"If only I had glasses, they definitely would have called me a villain behind glasses!"
"escaping is out of question namely for two reasons,"
"First because of the condition I agreed upon,"
"Not that I intended to keep my word, but the second reason is the one true reason keeping me here,"
"right now, I don't know my environment."
"any little information I have is pretty much useless for now, hence if I did escape now somehow."
"which is a huge iff, I most probably won't get much far, and even if the escape is a complete success, they will try to chase me to the end of the earth."
"so, the best option to choose for now is to stay here, and gather as much useful information as I can."
Ray decides to explore the mansion he's in.
Deep down, ray felt that the Lukas guy was too accomodating towards him in later parts of his interrogation, which made ray wary of him even more.
"I have read enough fantasy novels to know about some make-belief magic."
"Not that it will help me here, but that Lukas guy is tracking me somehow, or else he wouldn't have let me loose like this."
"if that is the case, then I will for now play his little game."
Ray, muttering his thoughts to himself in his mind, explores the whole cabin except for the top floor and the Cellar. Ray notices that Lukas and others were somewhere above him, which meant that the Basement is unguarded.
"let's see what's down there?"
"open sesame!"
"hack.. hack.."
"man, this room is filthy and dark."
Ray takes a few steps into the darkroom, the whole room lights up, which reminds ray of the cave.
"Wow, that's nostalgic!"
"man, that's huge!"
The whole room was littered with chalkboards and what looked like lab equipment to Ray.
"This reminds me of a high school science lab only difference is that this one is way bigger."
Ray slowly walked inside, all the while looking at the chalkboards which were filled with writings and equations, diagrams which made no sense to him. Ray is so busy looking up and around that he forgets that the room is filthy and unorganized. Soon after, Ray falls on the floor by tripping on something.
"thud!"
"aowww.."
"That hurts."
The stumble causes a cascade of storage containers and other tools to fall one another like a domino.
"what's this ?"
One of the containers whose lid was open contained a mysterious black powder that fell in front of Ray, barely missing his face.
"sniff sniff."
The moment Ray smells this powdery substance that was scattered all around him, he gives an evil grin.
"Now, we are talking, business!"
