“The hell are you doing outside my door? Fuck off, you’re disturbing the silence.” I was met with 3 pairs of eyes. Similar to the students before, two of them looked shit-scared, but one seemed to be particularly terrified.
It was a small boy, whom one could best describe with the term ‘angel’. Seriously, if one were to google ‘angel’, the first few pictures would probably be the exact representation of what this guy looked like. He didn’t wear a white dress or something, but the rest of him was so disgustingly angel-like. Just looking at his face and small body, he could surely come off as a girl if he’d wear a bit of makeup and a dress.
His blonde, slightly golden hair came almost down to his shoulders and had light waves. His big round eyes seemed to have the same colour, but I’ve never seen golden eyes before, so they’re probably just a very light brown. He was half-hiding behind one of his friends, and I could swear, I saw him shiver a little. Damn, I didn’t know, I was so intimidating. I had to admit, though, that made me kind of proud.
His friends were a little taller than him, one even taller than me. Both had brownish hair, one looked a little like Justin Bieber during his good-boy-past, while the taller guy had a longer buzz cut, looking way older than the other two. He didn’t seem as terrified for some reason, rather taken aback.
“I-I’m sorry,” look at that, the scaredy-cat is speaking first, who would have thought that? His soft voice only strengthened my angel-theory. “Sorry th-that we were loud. I am your, uhm, roommate.”
I raised an eyebrow at that. Thinking back to what his side of the room looked like, yeah, I could see it. I guess my luck of being alone just ended. Instead of answering, I opened the door a little reluctantly and couldn’t help but click my tongue. I saw the buzz-cut-friend whispering something in angel’s ear, before I turned around to return to my bed and Netflix. When I sat down and opened my Laptop, the three of them were still standing outside the door.
I sent them a glare that would hopefully signalize them, that angel-boy should just come in, shut the door and be quiet for the rest of the year. Apparently, they didn’t get the message of my glare, since they only backed away a step further. I suppose I have to voice it then. “What the fuck are you still doing outside? Come inside or sleep outside for all I care, and don’t talk to me.”
This finally got him moving inside. He waved his friends goodbye, who shared the same concerned look, before closing the door quietly. Thank god. Since I wasn’t alone anymore, I took my noise-cancelling headphones from the bedside table and indulged myself in my Netflix series. I didn’t pay much attention to what was going on around me, and luckily, Angel wasn’t distracting enough anyway.
After two more episodes, a teacher knocked on our door to check on us. What the hell is that shit? A surveillance state?
Shortly after, I saw a figure moving from the corner of my eye. Apparently, angel-boy was getting ready for bed. This made me take a look at the clock. It wasn’t even 10 pm yet… Who the hell sleeps that early? But then I remembered where I was now and that it certainly wouldn’t go my way here. Angel went over to his bed, already wearing his pyjamas that were kind of big on him.
When he had just laid down, being the nice guy that I am, I decided to tell him ‘Good night’ Krane-style, “If you’re snoring in your sleep, I’m gonna suffocate you with your pillow.” I smirked at his direction and to myself and was met with the same horrified look from before. After a few seconds, he started nodding, not even trying to hide his fear. I wasn’t actually planning to suffocate him, obviously, but his reactions were funny. I was thoroughly pleased after that and continued watching the series.
At around 1 am, I was starting to get bored and a bit tired, so I went to the bathroom, got ready and moved to my own bed. I glimpsed to the other bed and saw the little boy lying there, his back facing me. He didn’t actually seem to be asleep though, his breath, or what I could see from the way his blanket rose up and down, wasn’t regularly and calm. For a moment, I wondered if he indeed stayed awake because of my threat from earlier, or if he just had a bad dream right now.
I never genuinely cared about other’s thoughts before, so I wouldn’t start now. My bed was surprisingly comfortable to lie in, compared to the ones I had in the other schools. So, even though I usually had a hard time to fall asleep in a foreign place, it didn’t even take 10 minutes for me to drift into a pleasant darkness.
