Bex was led to a small hotel like building about an hour or so away from Lyssa’s house. She was nervous, shaken up, and scared, but most of all she was worried about Lyssa.
“I really think we should go back and look for her,” Bex said for the third time.
“We will, we will. I promise. But first, we might need some backup. I want to introduce you to my family, my vampire family.” Florence ushered Bex into the building.
Although it looked like a hotel on the outside, it did not look like it on the inside. Inside Bex was greeted with an office area that looked very much like it was running some type of small business. There was a front desk with a clerk, a few offices in the back. A meeting room, even a small waiting area with a couple of couches and a Tv.
She looked around in confusion before Florence not so gently pushed her towards the elevator.
“Ignore all this, this is for our business.”
“Business?” Bex turned to look at her.
“Don’t worry your pretty head about that yet.” Florence smiled a sweet smile at her.
“Yet?”
She pat Bex on the head.
They got in the elevator and took it to the third floor. There, it was much more hotel-like. Rooms with numbers, a lounge area, a work out room, etc.
“I’m back!” Florence sang out.
Bex yelped when someone zoomed in front of them, stopping directly in front of her face.
“What do we have here?” He smirked.
Bex eyed his shaggy black hair with a red stripe. He was much taller than her, but also very thin and lanky looking. He looked to be in his late teen’s early twenties as far as Bex could tell.
“Victor meet Rebecca, Rebecca, Victor.”
“Rebecca?” Victor’s eyes got wide at some realization Bex didn’t get, he and Florence shared a knowing look.
“Hi,” Bex said sheepishly.
“Hey everyone! Come meet Rebecca!” Victor called.
“Do we have to?” A girl shouted back.
“Yes!” Florence snapped at her.
Once again, another vampire appeared in front of her.
The girl had dark ebony skin with blond dreadlocks tied back into a loose ponytail. She was wearing skinny jeans and a tank top, she looked to be in her early twenties as well.
“Hello Rebecca, I’m Willow.” She gave a sarcastic smile.
Bex forced a smile back, nervously looking around.
“In here!” A man called.
“Come with me,” Florence led Bex towards a back room.
In the room was what looked to be a cross between a game room and a reading room. there was a pool table and a ping pong table, as well as a mini-golf course only big enough to fit two holes. A large flat screen tv on the wall had a movie playing, many game consoles hooked up under it. There were several bookshelves filled with books and movies and board games. A hammock was hanging from the ceiling close to a window that was cracked open. There was a large sectional couch with several bean bag chairs thrown here and there. In the corner were a couple of small rocking chairs and a lamp next to a small table for reading.
Victor zoomed past Bex, him and Willow racing back to the couch, Willow claimed the good seat.
“No fair!” He swatted a pillow at her.
“Bite me.” She hissed.
“Sorry about them, they are like the annoying little siblings of the group, I’m Otto.” A man with blond hair and blue eyes walked up to Bex.
He was very well built, ready for combat at a moment's notice. He had on a tight shirt that showed off his muscles and jeans with a belt. He had a slight accent though Bex couldn’t place it. He looked to be in his mid to late twenties.
“Rebecca,” Bex shook his hand. He had a very firm handshake.
“When you said you were going hunting, I didn't think this is what you meant,” Another black woman walked into the room.
She was more curvaceous, well-endowed in her chest. She looked to be in her late twenty’s early thirty’s. She had on an orange sundress with white sandals. Her hair was corn rolled to her scalp with braids that came down to her mid-back.
“Rebecca, this is Rhonda,” Florence said.
“Emm Hmm,” Rhonda eyed Bex up and down before giving Florence a knowing look and walking over to the pool table where she jumped up and sat down.
“She’s always like that, don’t let her get to you.” another girl walked in.
She looked to be more around Bex’s age, maybe a little older. She was stunning, to say the least. Dark tan skin and bright grey eyes. Long dark brown hair draped over her shoulder. She had a slight Indian accent, but it was hardly detectable.
“I’m Charu, nice to meet you, Rebecca.” She smiled sweetly which made Bex relax just a bit.
Bex shook her hand.
“I do not believe this is a wise choice.” A guy much closer to Bex’s age walked in.
“Rebecca, meet Ahote, or as we call him, Hop.” Chrau playfully smacked him on the shoulder.
“More like stick in the mud!” Victor called back.
Ahote had a nice chiseled face, sharp cheekbones, and a very pronounced nose. His skin was a medium brown tone, and he had long black hair that fell past his shoulders. He wore baggy parachute-style pants and a tight muscle shirt. He arms covered in tribal style tattoos.
“My choices are final,” Florence quipped to Ahote.
He shot her a glare before walking into the room and leaning against the back wall with his arms crossed.
“Well this is everyone,” Florence turned to Rebecca.
“Not everyone,” A man with a thick southern accent limped into the room.
Bex got a chill down her spine, something about him screamed danger.
He had dark ebony skin, darker than any Bex had ever seen. His eyes were just as dark. He wore a button-up cotton shirt tucked into some khaki pants. He looked to be in his late twenties. When he turned to Bex, Bex nearly gasped out loud as half his face was badly burned.
She found herself backing towards the door.
“Rebecca, this is Kitch,” Florence said.
He narrowed his eyes at her and then slowly walked over and sat in a rocking chair. The room was silent for a tense moment. Everyone seemingly looking to Rebecca for some clue as to what to do next. When they saw a very clueless look on her face, they turned to Florence who was sporting a very wicked smile.
“Well, everyone this is Rebecca. She is very new at this, isn’t that right Rebecca?”
Bex nodded and moved closer to Florence out of protective instinct.
“Rebecca has lost her friend Lyssa and wants us to help her. Isn’t that right?”
“I don’t know what happened to her. Everything just got so overwhelming one moment we were together, the next not. I think something bad happened, we should go look for her.” Bex quickly said.
“Why do you think something bad happened, maybe she just ran off,” Willow interjected.
“No, we are bonded, connected. I can feel her all the time, but I can’t feel her now. We should go look right away.”
“Bonded?” Otto raised an eyebrow.
Bex nodded.
“How peculiar,” Florence pursed her lips.
“Well, no one is going looking for anything until I get my food. I’m starving.” Victor said.
“But—”
“It’s alright Rebecca, I am sure it’s all a big misunderstanding. Besides Lyssa wouldn’t want you to starve yourself for her, now would she?” Florence turned to Bex.
“No, but—”
“Alright then, why don’t you stay here with us while I work on finding your Lyssa. My family here can show you the ropes. Teach you everything you need to know about being a vampire. That way when we do find Lyssa, she will be so impressed with you. Isn’t that what you want, you want Lyssa to be happy don’t you?”
Bex nodded.
“Good. Now, don’t you worry your pretty little head. I will search diligently for Lyssa, but first, let’s eat.”
