Chapter 2
I was on my way back home from the convenience store. I’ve been a bit low on food so after lazing around for an hour or two, I finally decided to actually go to the store earlier.
Though I only got small things, I don’t exactly need much. Just things like bread, milk, juice and some other shit. And so that’s what I bought.
Some notifications went off on my phone so I checked that, before putting it off again and crossing the road. I’m a bit further away from my apartment than I would usually go. I was just supposed to go on a normal walk and so I went pretty far out, but I realised that I had to buy things anyway and went to the convenience store. So I’m roughly about twenty minutes away from there right now.
Since I went a different route, I’m not too familiar with this place. I didn’t know that it was slightly more crowded than the area I live in. So there are a lot of people. I suppose I can cope with this for a bit, but I’ll probably need to take a break sooner or later. It’s almost 3pm, I think it’s this crowded since it’s Saturday, and more people are also probably going to arrive.
Well, if I go to a quieter place, then I guess I can walk around for a bit longer. I didn’t really feel like going back home right now anyway.
. . .
To be honest, I have no idea what I’m doing. At all.
Earlier I went to get something to eat and drink, now I’m sitting in what seems to be an alley while drinking out of a coke can. It’s not dangerous and I’m pretty sure there aren’t any people that are close to me.
I got too worn out and this is only the first time I’ve taken a break. It’s been two hours already.
I would have sat on a bench or maybe leaned against a wall. But for some reason there aren’t any benches around here and my legs are sore so I just found a quiet spot and decided to rest here.
It’s already starting to get colder, even though there’s still around another hour until the sun sets.
What’s bothering me a bit was that I don’t really have anything to do right now. Besides playing around with my tag, but other than that, basically nothing.
After a while, I got tired of doing that and repositioned myself so I could be more comfortable. Just as I was about to take another sip of my coke, I flinched as I heard something make a noise next to me, it was an animal. And not just any animal.
A cat.
I looked to my left, only to see a black cat there, with eyes that in a way looked like emeralds. It’s a beautiful cat, but I don’t like cats. Or any animal for that matter. I tried to shoo it away but then it only came closer, just my luck.
I would back away, but I don’t have enough strength and I’m currently too lazy. Before I knew it, it was right next to me. And when I turned to look at it, it was basically staring into my soul.
“What do you even want?”
It continued to stare at me. It’s kind of starting to freak me out now. I paid it no attention and carried on drinking my coke.
Until it started nudging my arm. It started to nudge me.
When I ignored it, it again meowed. This is really annoying. And so I ignored it. When it didn’t stop meowing and making those other stupid noises, I gave up.
As I turned to look at it blankly, I decided to pet it. It sniffed my fingers but soon let me. It didn’t look fully grown, but then again, I can’t tell how old it is.
If I were being honest, it is a bit cute. And soft. I’ve never had a pet before so I’m not good with animals in the slightest. It’s weird that this one in a way likes me.
I didn’t notice it before, but I saw a collar. I’m a bit curious, so I decided to look at it.
Ah, there’s a name. So it’s a girl.
“Huh, so your name is Ivy. Cute.” I said while petting her, she just purred.
I wonder where her owner is. I’m not sure if she’s missing since usually cat owners let them wander around, I think?
My legs were crossed and she seemed to become more comfortable since she came to lay in the middle. This is seriously the closest contact I’ve ever had with an animal ever since.. that day..ugh, memories.
I went on my phone for a bit, and just as I finished my coke, I heard a voice.
“Ivy! Ugh, damn it. Where the hell did she run off to now?”
It didn’t sound too far away from me, it sounded just as if the voice was around the corner.
Plus, considering how deep the voice is, this is a guy. Even worse. So I moved her out of the way, luckily as I slowly stepped back she didn’t follow me or anything like that.
I don’t want to talk to him, socialising is one thing, but I don’t like talking to guys. I only talk to two people regularly, and that is Vivienne and Claire, and Damien and Katelyn. I mean, I talk to my boss at work sometimes but he’s an exception.
I heard some footsteps coming closer as I was getting my things ready. So I quickly made sure I had everything. Although I think I heard a voice, but I ignored it.
And so, I walked away.
