Lea thought the children had that good idea to lock her up in the storeroom again. She figured that she could break one glass, but decided against it as she sat on the food jug instead. Ah, that kid would complain then that she was stuck in the storeroom for so long. She would freak out, especially when she learns she sat on the rice jug. She sat there for so long when someone opened the lock. It must be Sei.
" Those rascals! I'll really tell 'Nay Rosa this time," he said. He was still wearing his uniform, a sign that he has just come back from the plaza.
“No thanks. Already took care of it.” she replied with only a glint of annoyance. This has been happening everyday. Nothing new. You will get used to it. They didn’t want to eat with her around the house. “ Also, ‘Nay Rosa waves it off all the time. That ‘try to understand because you’re the elder one’ thing she says all the time. She never hears me.”
Sei sighed. Whatever goes through his mind, she’s sure that he’s confused. The children had been kinder to him despite him being older and different for he amuses them. The children laugh at his being a bit different and he calls that getting along. As for her, there’s no use in humoring these kids.
“How was the girl?” Lea asked.
“ Fine, I guess. Don’t you wanna go eat?”
“ How is she? Where does she stay right now? Is she doing okay? Does she need anything else?”
“ Relax.” Sei’s offer of food has gone out of the window. “
" 'Nay Rosa called for a physician. The kind that dresses nicely, requires higher pay too. No doubt she'll be good in no time."he answered.
" That kind of poison spares no one. Kills within five minutes. No one has ever survived that."
" But in her case, she was still breathing. She's in a good condition now. In fact, he said she might wake up soon."
Lea's eyes widened at the words. Like what she has always done, she dragged Sei by the hand to go to the room the girl is in.The room was in the second storey of the orphanage so they would be surely be seen in the comedor but Lea paid no heed. They can't touch the constable. When they arrived there, Lea had to go through the trouble of washing her hands in a warm basin held by another child. She splashed the water in his face, laughing a little as the kid dodged its way out.
When they finally got inside, they already found the caretaker seated on the bed where the girl is.she is already awake, seated but unmoving and you cannot even see her face from the long and bushy tresses of dark hair. Sei screeched the door open and greeted the caretaker. They have already talked for a few minutes before the caretaker noticed Lea is also inside.
" Here to ask after her too," she remarked. If you would look at it, the older woman looked kind. 'Nay Rosa, that is what they call her. Even though she is in her mid-forties, you cannot see her age. Her manner of speaking is also nice, slow, one trait that is not common to people in the Limpio. But for some reason, Lea takes no liking to this woman.
" The physician said she is in good condition now," the caretaker said. "She has not spoken or even looked at us since she woke this evening." Lea was about to reply when she noticed that the caretaker flitted her eyes at Sei.
" That is certainly not good. Where she could’ve gone so as that to happen? " Sei asked.
" We' ll wait for her to speak before we can answer that," 'Nay Rosa replied.
Lea cannot take it anymore,"She won't be coming from anywhere else other than somewhere near Tanawa, or just around the capital." Not minding 'Nay Rosa's reaction, she dashed to the bed and touched her at both cheeks. She hadn't seen it the night they found her, but now she can only be sure. They have the same eyes. Deep green like hers
