If I may offer my humble opinion, that last panel is a very bold attempt at something different and unique but unfortunately it serves only to confuse. I don't think it achieves the desired effect. So while you're at it to do a remaster, might as well consider doing it differently.
In a world where grim-reaping is a government job, a descendent of the first grim reaper tries to run a local reaping branch in the declining former resort town of Sapphire Bay. Meanwhile, her most troublesome employee makes a new friend who is...possibly dead?
