The next morning I make my way downstairs by myself. I made sure to not wake up Ella, wanting to speak to my parents alone. I knew that the three others wouldn’t come down until my mom announced that breakfast was ready.
“So I kind of got a little bit of information from them last night.” My mom stopped whisking the eggs. She set the bowl down on the counter, giving me her full attention. My dad continued typing what he was meaning to type, but looking at me as well, giving me some attention.
“What’d you learn about them?” My mom cocked her eyebrow.
I then explained what they had told me last night. “The only information I don’t think I want to ask right now is about their packs, and how they managed to get out. They were giving me sensitive information, and I kind of feel like I’m betraying them by telling you guys but I know y’all need to tell something to Alpha Kent soon.” I explained.
“No, I think you’re right sweetie. Some of the other Omega’s are being a little more cooperative about how they managed to get out of their pack territory, they’re keeping themselves linked with their pack so the Alpha doesn’t feel them leaving. That’s what a few have fessed up to. Most of them are scared of becoming a rogue.” I frown at the news, even though they left their pack they were still connected. I wonder if they could still hear the pack announcements from their Alpha’s or link with anyone in their pack. Unless they were too far away.
“Doesn’t that cause concern for infiltrators?” I asked my parents. What if they were trying to get information on our defense mechanism, to challenge our pack for the number one rank?
“At this time August, we’re just trying to help Omega's heal, most that have shown up have had something wrong with them. Their packs aren’t as fair as ours has been to our own.” My dad had stopped typing, focusing all of his attention on me.
“I’m just saying, I mean Alexandre is supposed to take over the pack here in January, maybe they’re going to attack while he’s still young?” I explained.
“Honestly love, he trains day in and day out, don’t worry about our young Alpha. These little Omega’s aren’t doing harm, we’ve asked most of them to agree to break their bond with their pack when we have our Ceremony on November 1st when we’re indicting the new Warriors as well. They’re just seeking asylum. I’m glad you’re thinking about this though. I’ll mention it to the Alpha, but I feel like that will make him want to dive deeper into why they came to our pack. So I hope you’re ready to dive deeper into your housemates' lives.” He pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose and went back to typing on his computer. “Sometimes it’s okay to be cautious, but in this scenario, I don’t think it’ll be completely necessary.” My dad explained.
“I gotta agree with your dad on this one Aug. Now how about you help me make some chocolate chip pancakes, you know how to make them better than I do.” My mom gives me a smile.
“In other words mom, they’re too hard for you to make,” I said, pouring the batter into another glass mixing bowl she had set out for them.
“Nope, in other words, I’m too lazy to make them. That’s what I had you for.” She bumped her hip to mine.
“I thought you had me because you loved me.” I gasped.
“Nope, I had you to be my maid.” She laughed out loud.
“Totally agree with your mom.” My parents were both hollering with laughter.
“Wow, I’m extra disappointed.” I roll my eyes, chuckling at them.
“Thank you for helping Aug, I love cooking with you. Makes it go by faster.” Once the batter was stirred to a thick consistency I poured some on the awaiting pan.
We finished breakfast for everyone and my mom sends me to go and get everyone up and downstairs. I got the three girls up easily and they had made their way to the kitchen. The only one I hadn’t woken up was Malikai. I sighed, knocking on his door softly. I waited for a couple of minutes before I knocked again just a little harder, pressing my ear up against the door, trying to see if I heard movement.
I hear light sobbing in the room, I took initiative to open the door, ignoring his privacy at this point. Malikai was curled up in a bawl, the covers were thrown off of the bed, he lay there sobbing. I sit on the edge of his bed and put my hand on his arm. This makes him jump and turn toward the intruder inside of his room.
“Hey, it’s only me,” I whispered to him, lifting my arms up showing I meant no harm to him. “What’s the matter?” I asked with worry in my eyes.
“It’s n-nothing.” He stuttered out, “Just a nightmare.”
“Hey,” I pull him to my chest. “Hey, it's okay.” I rubbed his back trying to soothe him. He cried into my chest, gripping on my shirt.
“Why did they have to do that to me? No one wants me, no one will ever want me.” He hiccuped. His watery eyes met mine. The grey pools drowning in sorrow. “Why me?!” He wailed in pain.
I run my fingers through his hair and let him cry it out. After ten minutes of him crying his heart out, he finally calms down. “Everything will turn out okay my love, just give everything time.” He pulled away from my embrace and he looked me dead in the eyes.
“It won't happen!” He hissed through his teeth, his mood changed completely. Angry tears started falling from his eyes. “They fucking knocked me up!” My eyes widen at the news, his anger radiating off him like an oven.
“That doesn’t mean-” I started, he quickly cut me off.
“No one, I mean it, no one will want me.” His eyes flicker to a golden color, his wolf coming out from the anger he felt. “They ruined me and boasted about it. My mate didn’t even get a chance.” His chest rumbles with each word he said.
I gently put my hand on his shoulder, wanting to calm him down. “You’re in a better pack, you’ll find your mate, you’ll have your pup, and your mate will not hate you for something you had no control over,” I said, determined to get through to him.
“It won’t happen, that’s a stupid fiscad you want me to believe. I feel miserable carrying this spawn, it’s one of theirs.” He bares his wolf's teeth at me. “I hate it, I hate me!” His shoulders start shaking, angry tears streaming down his face.
“Please calm down,” I whispered to the older Omega. My gentle voice makes something snap inside of his head, his eyes turn back to their normal grey color.
“I’m sorry.” He breathed, his wolf's teeth retracted back into his gums. “I don’t know what to do, please don’t tell anyone. The only person that knows is the healer, I don’t want your parents to kick me out of the house before the housing for us is done. I don’t know where I’d go…” He tucks his chin into his chest.
“Listen Malikai, I can hold off on telling my parents, but you do need to tell them. It’ll become evident hard and fast. They would never kick you out either. Do you know how far along you are?” I asked him, rubbing my thumb on his shoulder.
“My heat was five weeks before your warriors found me.”
“So you’re about a month and a half in…” I stated, he nodded in response.
“Have you had any of the symptoms?” I looked at him with worry in my eyes.
“I don’t recommend morning sickness… You’d never imagine how hard it is to not puke at the smell of eggs, it’s extremely hard just sitting here.” Duly noted, I made a mental checklist of stuff we didn’t need to cook in the mornings. “Other than that, I’m just tired all of the time, and a little cranky as you’ve witnessed.”
“Eh, it’s justified crankiness.” I gave him a small smile. “I made chocolate chip pancakes, do you think your little one will let you at least eat some of those. You do have to take care of yourself love.”
“I can do the pancakes and bacon.” He pursed his lips. “I can smell the eggs from here though and let's just say, it's not a favorable smell.”
“Alright let’s join them downstairs, they’re probably worried about how long we’re taking,” I tell him, he huffs out a breath of air and stands up from the bed.
