We were at the end of the movie, all three of our sensitive asses were sobbing like the big baby bitches we were. Like I understand they both couldn’t go on the door, trust me I knew. They did try to do it and physics failed them on many levels. Still, they could have y’know, switched out, or something.
“I fucking hate this movie.” Raven huffed out. “It’s bullshit, Leo is too perfect to die in a movie and what does he do? He goes and fucking dies, bullshit.” He muttered rubbing his eyes.
“It’s still a good movie.” I sniffed, chewing on my fingertips, the credits start rolling on the screen. Ella then turns to me, inspecting my jaw. I internally groaned, knowing what was about to ensue. The look in her eyes meant I was going to the pack healer, no if’s, and’s, or butts. “I guess I better get dressed,” I grumble, half tempted to run for it, but I knew her wolf would whoop my ass in running since I couldn’t transform into my wolf form for the time being, nor did I want them to know I couldn’t phase into my wolf form. They’re my best friends but I didn’t want them to worry about me more than they already did.
I walked into my room and grabbed an outfit quickly from my closet and started getting myself dressed. Raven and Ella came in the room half way through me getting dressed and they started getting dressed themselves. They used to come over so often that they had about a week’s worth of clothes at the end of my closet, they each also had a smaller drawer each. During the summer they practically lived here.
Ella bounced on her feet to the bathroom to try and tame her mane, even though even on a good day it would frizz like crazy without the right product in her hair. About 20 minutes later we were finally ready to leave the house. Raven’s hair was half up in a bun and the rest was feathered out. If Ella tried to do that it would look funny, but it worked for Raven. I always kept my hair short, it was easier to take care of every morning, just a comb through and I was golden.
We piled into Raven’s car and he drove us to the pack house. The pack house is where those who weren’t mated, or had lost their mate lived, as well as Omega’s that had previously been denied by their families. It's always lively, our pack always took care of each other, no matter what. It had a community bath, as well as showers. There was also a day care and other amenities that contributed toward our community. It was also where they housed visiting pack members from other packs. The pack healer was there for convenience since a large number of wolves made their way in and out of the complex.
Currently Ella and Raven were actually dragging me to the healer’s room, she lived on the bottom floor of the packhouse, seeing as she had to be readily available for all of the wolves at all times. She was usually here in the mornings and stayed till the afternoon. She had help in the evening, the only time she would help out at night time is if someone was deadly injured or someone was delivering a pup.
“Good afternoon little Omega.” Kathy popped her head from around the curtain. “I’m helping our young Alpha, I’ll help you when I’m done.”
“Okay,” I mutter, leaning against her counter. My friends conveniently left the room, and probably the packhouse to shop around in the village while Kathy looks at me because they knew once she knew I was here, she wouldn’t let me leave until she had seen me. Assholes.
“It’s okay Kathy, he can come in, and you’re almost done anyways.” I hear Alexandre’s voice behind the curtain.
“Are you sure young alpha?” She asked him to make sure he was absolutely okay with me going in there. His voice piqued my interest.
“Yes ma’am, if I can’t share a room with a fellow pack mate, I’d be a terrible Alpha.” He laughed at her questioning tone.
“Alright kiddo, get your tail over here.” Kathy motioned me behind the curtain. I made sure to look down as I walk past Alexandre, ensuring I show my submission to the young Alpha. “Now what happened to your jaw hun’?” She glances at me for a second before she continues wrapping gauze around Alexandre’s bicep. I took a quick glance at the Alpha and noticed he has bruises caked on his arms and chest, along with some cuts and gashes. I noticed that some of the bruises were yellowing, half tempted to ask him about what happened but I didn’t want to speak out of turn.
“I fell at school yesterday and I busted my jaw on the way down,” I respond to the healers' question. “It wasn’t like this last night, I think the adrenaline wore off after I fell asleep last night, and here’s the end result.” I hissed running my fingers over the swollen skin.
“Oh, no doubt you probably broke your jaw.” She says patching up the last of Alexandre’s gashes. He takes in a deep breath, hissing under his breath as she starts cleaning another wound on his shoulder blade. “Hold.” She told him. He reached over his shoulder and held the gauze in place for her. Once the tape is on the wound she tapped him letting him know he could release his grip.
“You shoulda’ heard it Kathy,” Alexandre states, grunting as she starts working on the next gash. “It sounded like a gunshot.”
“Oh, you were there?” She raised an eyebrow at Alexandre.
“Yeah, Jasper thought it would be cute to trip him. He’s on bathroom duty here for the next month. Ralf is glad for the mini-vacation.” Alexandre laughed.
“I bet, some of those men can be pigs.” She explains. “Good thing you’re nipping it in the bud right now.”
“Oh my goddess,” I heard a voice approaching. My head snapped up and saw Onyx, our future Luna as she hurried into the room. “Are you alright Alexandre darling?” She asked. I raised my eyebrows in shock. Despite them not being mated yet she’s not even calling him Alpha, just his first name. “I heard you got attacked by a rogue on a hunt this morning.” She answers my earlier question.
“Yeah, it’s nothing my sweet, don’t worry.” He replied, his voice melting for her. They were the ideal couple, they were perfect for each other. The Moon Goddess is going to bless both of them for sure.
“Okay, if you say so.” She pursed her lips. She then looked over to me, her eyes widened a little noticing my enormous jaw. “Woah kid, what happened to you?” She asked me, her voice changed just a smidge, but she still sounded sweet to me.
“I fell,” I tell her.
“I know them feels.” She laughs. She was perfect, her golden locks were curled perfectly. She had bright blue eyes, pasty white skin, which her red lipstick seemed to contrast her eyes and skin. She was the sweetest submissive wolf in our pack. Her and our next Alpha were the perfect match. She didn’t have a mean bone in her body. “Do you think your jaw will be better by the full moon?” She looked over to Kathy.
“I believe with my serum it should be better by morning.” Kathy inputs herself into the conversation. I visibly shudder at the thought of drinking that concoction she called a serum.
“I haven’t seen you at the past few full moon celebrations,” Onyx stated. Honestly, the reason why I didn’t go to them is that I was too ashamed to go, knowing that my wolf was still taking a hiatus from y’know, being a wolf. “You should come to this one.” She walked over to me and placed a gentle hand on my arm. “We would love to see you there little Omega.” She gently squeezed my arm then let’s go.
“I agree with her, little Omega,” Alexandre says. “The Moon Goddess blesses us with her love and presence on that day.”
“I’ll think about it.” That was my definite answer of no, I did not want to go to another full moon celebration till my wolf comes out of hiding.
“Alright young Alpha, you’re all done, just remember to change the bandages every eight hours at the most,” Kathy says, handing him some gauze and ointment. “You should be healed in a couple of days. Don’t go running off into the wolves den again by yourself.” She says holding his hands that now held the supplies. She stares him deep in the eyes like they have a secret understanding of the situation. It made me slightly question the situation, but it was not my place to think of such matters. “Now let me tend to this little Omega here.” She says breaking their eye contact.
He nods his head and he sits the supplies down beside him, which only makes Onyx pick the supplies up for him. He grabs his shirt, which surprisingly was clean despite the cuts that littered him.
“Alright August, let me start making my juice.” She says going over to her cabinet and she starts mixing herbs and other medicines.
“Bye little August,” Alexandre says leaving the room.
“Bye Kiddo, see you at the celebration,” Onyx says waving her free hand and giving me a bright toothy smile.
“See ya,” I say lifting my hand, giving her a half-assed wave.
Once Kathy was sure no one was around, she turned to look at me. “Your wolf still hasn’t broken his silence has he?” I frowned and shook my head at her. “You can still feel him there, right? He hasn’t tried to leave you?” She asked.
“He’s still there. I’ve tried coaxing him out but no dice. He’s a stubborn little shit just like me, but I think he’s still scared because of what happened a few months ago.” I looked down at my hands, not realizing that my nervous habit of picking at my nails had already taken over.
“Hm, maybe you need to try and shift without him, maybe he’ll be a kind fucker and try to help you out.” She nervously laughs out.
“Yeah, I’ve tried that, really freakin’ hurt, do not recommend me to do that again please.” I shuddered, remembering what happened last month before the ceremony. I had tried to see if my wolf would guide me into my wolf form. It only ended with me on the ground writhing in pain for two hours.
“Have you said his name out loud?” She asked me.
“Like bloody Mary, three times, in the dark in front of the mirror, and I turn on the light and boom, no Winston.” I finally called out his name. “Look if there is anything to try I’ve already tried it. I’m just giving him his time, he’ll come out of hiding on his own.”
“If he doesn’t come back by the full moon after this one, you need to tell Alpha Kent.” She tells me. “Maybe he can coax Winston out a little.”
She starts stirring the concoction of a nasty fix it all drink for bone breaks. I stand from the bed and move over to her side and lean my back up against the counter. “Do I really have to drink it?” I asked.
“You bet your sweet cheeks you do.” She tapped the spoon on the rim of the glass then she handed it over to me. I reluctantly took it from her hands and stared at the green sludge.
“Do you at least have a chaser for it?” I asked hoping for something less gross for after I down this sludge.
“Big baby,” She walked over to her refrigerator and grabs a soda and sits it on the counter beside me. I sit the sludge down and open the soda.
“Also can I please have a straw, I can’t open my mouth that much. I could barely drink my coffee this morning.” She lets out a sigh and opens a cabinet grabbing a straw out for me and plops it in the drink.
“Now drink up.” I hesitantly look at the drink and bring the straw to my lips. I drink the concoction as quickly as possible. I gag a few times but I tough it out and finish the sludge, I quickly grabbed the soda and started sipping it down. “You’re a big wimp kid, I have wolves in here for broken bones almost daily and you’re the first one to ask for a chaser that's above the age of 13.” She laughed.
“Whatever. Shit’s nasty.” I grumble out. “Am I done here?” I ask ready to get out of this place. Kathy was the only one in the pack that knew of my wolf problems, she didn’t tell anyone about them but I didn’t want to talk any more about it.
“You’re free to go kiddo, if it doesn’t heal by tomorrow morning, come in and I’ll give you another dose.” To be honest it already felt like it wasn’t hurting all that much already.
“Aye, aye.” I salute her and I walk from the healer's room, not wanting to be in the room much longer.
Now to find my friends…
