[An's POV]
The summer breeze at night sort of calling me to take a stroll through the unfamiliar neighbourhood, which what I did. It was nearly 2 in the morning, the perfect time for the hot steam from the ground to mix with the cold air and producing dews. It was when I was thinking about the reason of my existence that I received a message from an unknown number.
Good evening, Sir An. I'm Jason, Young Master Zephyr's assistant. [Jason]
It wasn't even evening anymore.
Good evening, Jason. [An]
I was told to send you the address to Young Master's apartment. [J]
Sorry to interrupt your sleep. If you will. [A]
It's fine, Sir. Here it is. [J]
I received a full address of the apartment from Jason.
Um... Sir? [J]
Yes, Jason? [A]
Are you okay? Do you want me to pick you up and send you to the apartment? [J]
At least, someone had the decency to ask me how I'm doing.
No, it's fine. It's already late. [A]
It certainly because it's already late, Sir. It's dangerous for an omega to roam around alone late at night. I'm sorry that my master did that to you. He went too far. [J]
I looked around me. There was no one there, but who knew if someone was lurking in the dark corners of the night, staring at me? I shivered. A notification went ‘ding', informing that another text was sent to my phone.
Um... I think I should pick you up, or else, my conscience won't let me go back to sleep. Can you send me your location? I will pick you up instantly. [J]
For real, though. How can the assistant acted more gentlemanly than the master? Jason, you deserve an award.
After sending him my location, he arrived in about 15 minutes later. He had a car with a funny-looking face, was what my mind blurted out first after seeing the light auburn haired gentleman stepped out of his shiny rideー which when you look from the front, you can see the 'face' of the car with headlights as eyes, grilles as nose and the bumpers would be its mouth... Was I the only one who think that-? Never mind.
Jason itself, unlike his car, had a pretty good-looking face. At least it was far from average. When he was standing next to his alpha master though, his beta presence was unfortunately drowned by the alpha's aura. However, when he was alone like this, Jason himself had a very dignify, gentlemanly aura on him. If I were... well, not this me... I would definitely throw myself to him. Unfortunately, I had promised myself not to stupidly getting involved with any possible love affair... so...
Oh! Almost forgot that I was technically married now.
...with a nonexistence husband.
Jason gave me a polite smile and opened the door to the back seat for me. Without any questions, I slid myself in and leaned on the seat. Right after entering the car, the first thing Jason did was to ask me if I was okay. I settled with giving him the default answer for that question,
"I'm okay. Thanks for asking, though."
He nodded and drove the car away from the neighbourhood. Along the way, I tried to recollect myself from the shock that happened when I was inside the house. I thought that I could live quietly in that nice house for at least three years before he divorced me. I guess, that much was too much for me, huh?
"Uhh... Sir?"
My attention diverted to the owner of the crisp voice who was tapping the steering wheel anxiously while shifting his golden brown eyes between the road and the rear-view mirror. He saw that my two eyes had moved to his direction, so he directed his gaze back to the road.
"I'm sorry for what he did to you. It was really rude of him."
"It really was," I said nonchalantly. My words were probably unexpected, because I saw the slight change in Jason's expression before he returned to act unaffected. He would do a good job at hiding his emotions, only if I wasn't paying attention to his expressions.
"Sorry if I sounded rude, but did you do anything to make him angry at you?" He asked again.
"I should be the one who was angry. He did the most anger-inducing part and I am the one who got kicked out." When I think about it, I should punch him on the face. I was just trying to eat my late dinner. He was the one who ate my dinner! Without even washing the Tupperware!
Jason cleared his throat as quiet as he could. I could see that he was sweating buckets from his seat, and I guarantee that it wasn't because of the heat.
"Did he brought his girlfriend into the house?" the poor man carefully asked.
"Almost every chance he gets."
"What is wrong with him?" I heard him whispered in disbelief. Maybe it was just me, but I felt a little disappointment in his voice.
It's not like I care anymore. For this past few days, everything happened not like the way I wanted. I mean, I didn't even remember when things happened in my way. It had always been this way. By now, I was really sure I had the ability to adapt with any kind of situation that I would've been thrown into. So, let's just do the usual thing, shall we? 'Ignore and keep going with the flow.'
[Zephyr's POV]
The omega's face kept on flashing on my mind! I couldn't make him go away. Maybe I was pitying him? After I accidentally looked at his shocked face last night, I had this uncomfortable feeling as if something was scratching my brain, and it had keeping me awake through the night. He must have been shocked when I kicked him out of the house last night, right? Maybe. I couldn't tell from his blank face. I was pretty sure he was shocked when I accidentally saw his eyes shifting a little bit when I gave him the keys.
"Aaargh!" I ruffled my hair in agony and slammed by butt on the black leather seat in my office. There was a ton of paperwork I had to settle, but at this pace, I couldn't even concentrate on any of them. What is this? Guilty conscience?
"I can see your mind wandering of. Maybe to the omega that you had stupidly kicked out last night? Sir?"
I didn't even realized when did Jason came in, but he had already standing in front of my desk, holding on some files in his hands. I groaned in annoyance and leaned my back to the back rest of my chair.
"Even if you hate omegas, sir, you shouldn't have kicked him out in the middle of the night. He is still a human that have feelings and it's dangerous at night. Above all, he's your WIFE. I wonder if you knew that," nagged Jason while his hands were concentrated in arranging the mess I made on the desk in front of us. I rolled my eyes at the words that had came out of his mouth.
"What else was I supposed to do, then? He was out there with Vanessa. She didn't like him. So, I sent him out like I supposed to!" I shouted a little just to make my argument seemed more valid, although the more I talked, the more I knew I was wrong.
Jason let out a disappointed sigh and stopped at doing what he was doing before turning his attention to meet my eyes. "In the first place, you shouldn't have brought your girlfriend to the house where your wife lives in." He paused and groaned when he thought that sounded so wrong. I knew it sounded really wrong too. "I won't say anything about the relationships between the three of you. But, the house is Master's gift for BOTH you and Sir An as your WEDDING GIFT. You have NO right to kick him out. It's still his own house."
I still think it was wrong for Granddad to give the omega, a stranger a house. Not to mention, he just basically sold his own grandson to a stranger. He knew I hated omega! And he knew I have Vanessa! That sly old man!
"Since when did you took his side? I thought you were my friend, not his," I grumbled in response while shooting daggers at Jason. I folded my arms against my chest and narrowed my eyes towards the auburn beta.
Jason clicked his tongue in disagreement and I flinched. Ever since I was a child, I had seen his true personality when he was angry. I'm telling you, he was not someone you could mess around with.
"Since when does being your friend making me have to say yes to all of your stupid actions? Do I look that stupid to you?" Jason asked calmly while throwing a sharp glance at me. I shook my head fast, just in case he would struck me on my face in my own office.
Jason sighed. "He is your wife, Young Master. It is your duty to treat him right. Also, you have to tell Vanessa about your marriage and just end your relationship with her-"
Wha-?! I slammed my hands on the desk.
"No way!"
A few books and files slid down each other and some of them dropped on the floor. A few pieces of paper flew around after getting hit by the impact from my hand slamming on the desk.
"There's no way I'm letting Vanessa go! I love her!" I shouted.
Jason stared at me for a few second before he squatted down to pick up whatever things that had fell on the floor. My chest was moving up and down rapidly as I tried to control the emotional outburst that had been trying to create a second wave.
"In the first place, it's absurd that Granddad let a strange omega like him to be my wife! We don't even know each other! And have you look at him? His face was like a dead fish! I freaked out when I look at his nonexistence of humanity on his face!" I shivered. No matter what I did, that said omega just stared at me as if he was staring straight into my soul. He's creepy!
"That wasn't called for," Jason said. I stayed silent. We were both silent for a few moments before Jason opened his mouth. "I heard that Master was planning to visit you guys for a week before he went to get his treatment. After this-"
I opened my eyes wide. "Wait, what?!"
Jason looked at me and I swear I could see him smirked behind his poker face. "He'll probably call you later."
And just like what Jason said, Granddad did called me that afternoon to inform me that he was going to stay with us for a week.
