When he arrives at the flat, he observes a couple of police cars outside. The police officers approach Tom and show him a warrant to search the premises.
Tom allows them inside, as he subsequently asks them nervously "Why do you want to search the flat?"
One of the officers replies that "This was the last known location a missing young woman was seen. And her car was parked not far from here. Furthermore, they were seeking information about a young man recently reported missing as well, who was also last seen at this location."
"Am I a suspect?" Inquires Tom with a look of deep worry.
"Not at the moment," Another officer curtly replies.
Tom follows the officers around the flat, as they sifted through it for three hours without finding anything suspicious. After the police left, Tom sprints upstairs. When he opens his bedroom door, he's shocked to discover some of Alice's clothes shredded, with some of them floating about in the air. Two of his fans along with his ceiling one were switched on, and turned up to their maximum setting. Which he found odd, because he never switched them on, or took them out of the wardrobe.
As Tom switches them off, his first thought was it might have been one of the police officers, while they were searching the flat. As he hastily pulls a small suitcase out of his wardrobe, placing some clothes and essential toiletries to take with him.
When he turns to leave the room, he notices the scratch marks on the back of the door. He spreads his nervous fingers over them and was unsettled by how large and gaping they were. Tom then hurriedly walks out of the bedroom with the suitcase, locking the door behind him. As he drives back to the hospital, Tom thinks deeply about what could have caused them.
When he arrives, he sits uneasily in the cubicle next to a still sleeping Alice. Tom tenderly strokes her flowing hair while thinking about what was going on. A nurse walks in and politely informs him a doctor was available. After a prolonged examination, the doctor said he couldn't find anything wrong with him.
Tom mentions the bite marks, which the doctor thought came from a human female.
Tom says, "I have no idea how I got them."
Tom subsequently describes to the doctor what had been going on in his flat. And that his fiancé thought it might be something paranormal.
The doctor replied politely, "This isn't my area of expertise. However, if I was in a similar situation, I would consider contacting a paranormal investigator."
After some thinking in the hospital corridor, Tom decides to contact some paranormal investigators. Some appeared to be quacks and frauds until he found one he believed looked legit. After carefully explaining his situation to them, they put him in direct contact with a leading investigator, who might be able to help him. He's then contacted by someone called Eileen. Tom explains his situation to her.
As Eileen inquires, "Have you bought a new bed recently by any chance?"
Which Tom admitted he had.
Eileen next asks Tom, "Can I visit your flat?" Emphasizing, "The sooner the better!"
She would also be accompanied by her husband Mike, who was also an investigator. Tom agrees and invites her to come to his flat straight away, and he would wait outside for them.
As Eileen says "Stay out of your bedroom until we arrive!"
Tom drives back to his flat and waits outside for Eileen & Mike to arrive. Thirty minutes later a car pulls up. As a man and woman in their fifties get out of the car and introduce themselves to him. Tom accompanies them into the flat. They all go upstairs, and Tom unlocks his bedroom door, and they go inside.
