When Tom wakes up in the morning. He's about to go upstairs when he panics, as he sees Alice lying unconscious at the bottom of them. Tom rushes over to her, noticing Alice has a bit of blood and a lot of swelling on the side and back of her forehead. Tom obsessively checks her pulse and is relieved that she's still breathing. He delicately places a plump pillow underneath her head, as Tom quickly calls for an ambulance.
At the local hospital, the doctors inform Tom that Alice had suffered a severe concussion along with some bruises, but would pull through. The baby was fine as well. But Alice would have to remain in the hospital for a few days to undergo more tests to be sure.
The doctors ask Tom, "What happened to her?"
He replies "Alice must have fallen down the stairs during the night. And she had been experiencing some breathing trouble, for the last couple of days as well."
After speaking with the doctors, he walks into a cubicle and sees Alice lying awake on the bed, covered in bandages, as machines monitored her breathing. Tom gently kisses her on the forehead.
Holding on to her hand, he softly asks her "What happened last night?"
Alice tells him "I heard footsteps upstairs and tried waking you up. I went upstairs to find out where the footsteps were coming from and something attacked me."
Alice then asks Tom, "Who's Lucy? Because you kept saying 'Lucy' in your sleep."
Tom was beside himself, as he tells Alice he didn't know who 'Lucy' was and can't explain why he said it again. As he confessed to Alice, that James heard him saying 'Lucy' in his sleep a few days ago. Alice suggests there might be something paranormal going on with the flat. Because she couldn't think of any other explanation for what was going on.
Tom is uncertain, as he tries thinking of a rational explanation for what had happened.
He gently holds Alice by the hand telling her "Your the person I want to spend the rest of my life with. And I will never let anyone harm you or the baby."
Tom encourages Alice to get some rest as he leaves the room and asks a nurse, if he can be checked out by a doctor. A nurse tells him he would have to wait a few hours before one was available. Tom walks back into the cubicle and stays with Alice until she falls asleep, he then leaves the hospital and drives back to the flat to get a change of clothes and a toiletry bag for himself and Alice. Since he would be staying at the hospital until she was discharged.
