During the night, a figure gradually rises from underneath the bedsheets. And lets out a low growling noise. Alice slowly opens her bleary eyes to the dreadful noise. Her eyes grew wide and fixed in dread, observing the shapeless figure under the bedsheets, standing ominously between her and Tom in the middle of the bed. She is paralyzed in fear and is incapable of moving or speaking.
The figure under the sheets slowly turns its head towards her. Its growls get deeper, as the figure gradually begins pulling them off, as it leans over her. Suddenly, Alice wakes up gasping for air. She abruptly sits up, looking around the room with fear in her glazed eyes, before quickly lifting the bedsheets. Alice lets out a sigh of nervous relief as she realizes she was dreaming.
Alice notices Tom's arms and legs were twitching, as he murmurs like he was talking in his sleep. She nudges him to see if he was alright because he was unusually warm and drenched in sweat.
Alice gets up gingerly, struggling to the bathroom, she felt ill and was taking deep breaths. A few minutes later, Tom wakes up after hearing Alice awkwardly moving about. He gets out of bed and follows her into the bathroom.
"Are you okay?" Asks Tom.
"Not really", she replies, saying, "The bed's very uncomfortable. And it feels like sleeping on sharp nails!"
Tom was extremely surprised, as he splashes some cold water over his face and body. As he dries himself with a towel.
He asks Alice. "Is it related to your pregnancy? "
Alice replies. "I don't think so, but I'll ring the surgery tomorrow to get a check-up."
Coming out of the bathroom Tom gets back into bed, while Alice decides to go downstairs. As she falls asleep on the reclining sofa in the living room, a featureless face looks down on her from the ceiling, before vanishing back into it.
