"Goodbye, Ms. Darian, I'm going to leave now," I say loudly as I walk towards the library exit.
"Uh, Ashley. Wait," she replies nervously. "You can't really leave just yet." I stop in my tracks and wait for her to continue what she has to say. "You have another person you have to tutor today."
I turn my body to face her and raise my eyebrow in confusion. "I thought that was the last of the requests that I had." As I glance at the clock, it's only 4:37 pm. I just want to go home now.
"Erm..." she trails off as she avoids my gaze.
"What's going on?" I ask in a firmer voice.
Then before Ms. Darian can answer, the library door opens. I turn my head back to the doors and just as if life couldn't get any worse, a broad figure with those piercing green eyes wearing a plaid blue flannel that just has to fit so well on him strolls toward me. Then my mind started making connections to Ms. Darian's strange behavior and Will's dramatic entrance. I shift my eyes back to Ms. Darian but she's already gone from my sight.
Can I escape or run away from all of this? I pinch my arm to see if I am dreaming or not and I am sure that I am not dreaming as the pain registers into my brain. But I don't do any escaping. My feet are glued to the carpeting below me until he walks up to me with a small smile. "W-What are you doing here?" I stutter.
"Ouch. You sound like you don't want to see me anymore. That hurt," he replies once again with his unforgettable British accent. "Well, to answer your question, I came here for you to tutor me again."
My blood runs cold. "But I never accepted any of your requests."
"Well, it seemed like Ms. Darian did and she booked me with you for the rest of the semester." My eyes widen as I look up at him. It was just all an act. I was just trying to make him believe that I was willing to help him so it didn't look suspicious.
"What?!" I whisper loudly. Blinking rapidly, I lean my shoulder against the wall next to me. "No no no. This must be a mistake. Excuse me for a second, will you?" Without giving Will a second glance, I immediately sprint to the library office and shove the door open, finding Ms. Darian huddled in the corner.
I slam the door behind me loudly to catch her attention. "What did he just say out there?" I demand as I place my belongings on the table.
She slowly turns around without directly looking at my eyes. "W-Well, Ashley, today he was begging me for him to be assigned to you for the rest of the semester and I originally said no..." she trails off.
"What happened then?"
"He offered five-thousand dollars."
I close my eyes and take in a deep breath. "It's all about money, isn't it?" I mutter under my breath.
"Ashley, William isn't as bad as you think-"
"Enough of that phrase. That's my problem to worry about, but you continuously heard me say that I didn't want to tutor him and you kept pushing. Why can’t you just respect my space instead of always thinking about money?!” I grab my stuff off of the table and shove the door open, slamming it behind me. Stomping my way through the library, I notice that Will is still standing there, waiting for me.
I don’t even give him a second glance as I am heading toward the exit. Pushing the doors open, I break into a run, not wanting anyone to see me yell at a librarian.
