“Some mistakes are worth making twice,” Larissa told herself as she stared back at her refection. Her blouse dishevelled with the top buttons undone and her belt buckle unclasped and hanging over her pleated trousers. Looking back at her face, her hair was still perfect but her lipstick was smeared above her top lip.
Larissa exhaled slowly. “No, they’re not.” She shook her head. “I only came over to talk… not… do this.”
There came a banging at the door, followed by a husky male voice, “Are you okay in there, Larry?”
“FINE,” she lied. “I’ll be right out.”
After quickly removing the lipstick smear and having one last glimpse of herself in the mirror, she stepped out of the bathroom. Pulling the door shut, she felt two masculine hands covering her eyes before she could turn around. Even though the hands were masculine, they were soft and had been placed very gently upon her face. For a split second, her legs felt weak from his touch and the smell of his aftershave in such close proximity. She couldn't allow him to make her feel like that. However, the second he had covered her eyes, the butterflies built up. Was it just feelings of lust? Was she just so desperately horny that her loins were saying that he would just have to do?
“What are you doing, Dave?”, Larissa asked, trying to push her butterflies aside and focus on the thought that she had just come in to talk to him. “Dave, I-” Dave spun her around by cupping his hand on the back of her neck and resting the index finger on his other hand over her lips, shushing her.
Larissa suddenly felt Dave’s lips on her ear; they were slightly cracked and dry, but not quite enough for the butterflies to flutter off and for her to strengthen her jellied legs.
“Don’t speak," his voice whispered in her ear and his breath was warm. "You won’t speak, Larry. I only want to hear you moan.” Dave then began to nuzzle on her ear. Larissa couldn’t help slowly giving in to his dominative but gentle power, what he did to her couldn’t be put into words.
Dave carefully placed a few more kisses on the side of her head, around her ear, his mouth slowly leading his nose to her neck. That was the point where Larissa couldn’t handle it any more. She imagined putting her hand to his chest to push him off, but her eyes were shut. She couldn't see herself doing it. Her brain screaming for her to open her eyes and tell him they needed to talk but her mouth silently argued. It pursed itself as it moved closer to him, her eyelids still shut and started kissing his lips, softly but with a lot of passion. She knew that she was making a mistake again, however, Dave knew exactly what to do to make her feel wanted like this, no one else could do that.
Touching his lips with hers may have been an odd sensation; they were dry and rough against her own semi-moist ones. Although, he knew how to use them and that trumped all the negatives. Like two puzzle pieces, their lips connected. Except, something at the back of her mind kept nagging her. Kept telling her that they weren’t quite aligning.
BEEP BEEP! - A perfectly timed interruption. If only she had planned it.
Larissa's eyelids sprung open. Forcing herself to push him away, she was relieved that whoever had texted her had chosen the perfect time, at least for her.
Before she could think about who was messaging her, she felt his grip on her hip and thighs increase, as he pulled her in tighter. “Don’t answer it,” he whispered, attempting to put his lips on hers again, but she kept turning her head. “Answer me, Larry.”
Her loins wanted to physically answer, her heart wanted to sit down and discuss it with him, but her mind wanted to be stronger, it wanted to grab her phone and leave. It had to be stronger. Larissa couldn't continue this, it wasn't right. She couldn't keep doing this to herself. Placing the palms of her hands on each of his shoulders, she pushed him back. His arms unravelling from her body as she did.
"Larry, is something wrong?" Larissa didn't answer. Instead, she turned quickly, almost stumbling over the coffee table. Dave stepped forward to catch her as she braced herself with one hand on the table and threw the other out to Dave, gesturing for him to stop and leave her. Reaching for her bag and phone at the other end of the table, she stood back up when she had them in her hold, then walked to the door without looking back.
"You're the one who came over here," Dave bellowed. "Why are you acting this way? You came to me. You started this. Just come back over here so-"
She shut the door with her on the other side. Larissa let out a heavy sigh as she pressed her back up against the outside of his door. Shouldering her medium-sized handbag, she slipped her phone inside, still without looking at who had texted her. Instead, she took out her compact and lipstick and started applying a fresh coat.
Popping her lips, she looked back at her reflection and thought, I walked out this time. I didn't give in. I didn't indulge myself in him this time. She placed the cap back on her lipstick and put it and her compact back away. I'll just have to return tonight to try to have that talk I know we need to have.
Then she descended the stairs and left his apartment, only to return later that day.
