“I would be lying if I said no.” I handed him my spare pajama pants. “Here, I hope they fit.”
As we changed, I kept on stealing glances at him as if I expected him to disappear. As soon as he was done, he wrapped his arms around my chest with his firm chest pushing against my back. His heart was beating at the same beat as mine.
“Come to bed and I will help you have sweet dreams.” He whispered in my ear as he lightly tugged me back.
The way my head fit perfectly in the nook of his neck made me feel at peace. He was humming a song and it was lulling me to sleep. He was right on the sweet dreams part. Normally, all of my dreams haunt me in the waking world until I create them into my artwork.
The sun was shining on my face and it woke me up. My eyes opened to an empty bed. I jolted up and I felt my heart racing. I ran out of my room to search for Adam.
“Please do not let yesterday just be a dream.” I mumbled as I searched every room.”
“I must be dreaming! This is amazing!” I heard Sam shout out.
I ran to the dining room and saw an interesting sight. There was breakfast buffet made for ten people and I saw Sam eating most of the food.
“Oh, I was about to wake you up.” Adam said as he walked out of the kitchen with a tray full of food.
He lifted the tray above his head as I tackled him. I could feel warm tears running down my face as I held him. I tried to will the tears away because I did not want to ruin his shirt.
“I thought that you were just a dream.” I said into his firm chest.
“A dream come true for both of us.” Sam said in between bites. “You can have a romantic relationship with someone and I can have a romantic relationship with food.”
Instead of answering him, I walked over to him and kicked him off of the chair. Then, I took his chair to eat my breakfast.
“When you stop eating like a pig, you can have your chair back.”
“But, I am a lovable pig.” He started to rub against my leg. “Oink!”
“I should have used you instead of buying bacon.” Adam said playfully as he gave me my breakfast.
Sam was play crying as I started to dig in. The food tasted like heaven on earth. The eggs and pancakes were as fluffy as clouds. Everything was perfectly seasoned as if it was sprinkled like rain. The bacon and hash browns were the perfect mix of soft and crispy like the battles of angels and demons. We all jumped when Sam’s phone went off, then he ran out of the room after he grabbed the said phone. We continued eating until I heard running feet. I do not know if we had people living below us, I hope not.
“We got approved!” Sam shouted as he tackled me off the chair. “Next week, you are going to have your own art show!” He looked at his feet after helping me up. “But, you need three more new pieces to fit into the gallery’s minimum limit.”
I held out my hand and he gave his cell phone. I use it for references because I do not own an actual phone. I just never needed one; I do not leave the apartment that often.
“Remember the rules; don’t bug me unless it is pass 24 hours or food.” I told him before going into my workspace.
After I finished on two pieces, I walked out to hand Sam back his phone and to grab Adam. I had him bend slightly forward while holding a tray. I painted him wearing a waiter outfit. After I got the base down, he walked over and pulled up a chair behind me. I could feel his loving gaze on the back of my neck.
The room started to get darker as I finished the last piece. Sam slammed open the door and I fell back. Adam caught the painting’s sides before it could fall.
“I do this every day to you and you still get shocked?” Sam asked as I flipped him off.
“It’s called Focus!” After Adam put the painting back, he helped me up. “I was busy painting when you came in like a bear coming out of hibernation.”
He stuck his tongue out before pushing me into the bathroom. He refused to let me out until I was sparkling clean. Then he dragged us to a Chinese restaurant to eat. I could not stop laughing there because Adam could not work the chopsticks. I had to help him take the lo mein out of his hair.
My nerves could not handle the rest of the week, as it got closer to the show dates. Sam had to explain to Adam just to give me space at certain times. There was one incident, the day before the show, that made me fall deep in love with him.
I was buried in a large pile of blankets, while my bedroom door was locked. I was filled with panic and anxiety for the next day. All I could see was judging looks everywhere if I go out. Nothing looks good enough for the show or out in public.
“Should we break down the door?” I heard Adam’s voice behind the door.
“Just let him rest his nerves for a while. He gets overly panicked before revealing any art piece, and this is like times ten compared to normal. He will come out when he gets hungry.” He said and then I heard running footsteps. “What the hell, man?”
I heard something tapping on my bedroom window. I moved the curtain, expecting a bird, instead I saw Adam with a picnic basket.
“What are you doing? You could die from accidentally falling from this height!” I yelled at him as I opened the window.
He had an innocent smile as I dragged him inside.
“You need to keep up your strength.” I was about to open my mouth to talk about the art show but he stopped me. “I can’t fainting mid kiss.”
“I would faint anyway from the way you kiss.”
He stayed with me all night long and only left to get more food. The morning of the show was interesting to say the least. I heard the two of them talking as I walked into the kitchen.
“We should tell him before this gets worse.” Adam told Sam.
“I already contacted the gallery to increase the security.”
“What is going on?” I asked and they jumped in their seats.
Sam had a guilty look on his face as he pulled a box out from under the table.
“I have been hiding the fact that you have a stacker.” He pulled out a stack of letters. “This started after you sold your first art piece. I have contacted the police multiple times but they refuse to look until it becomes life threatening.”
I was debating on smacking or thanking him, so I chose to smack him.
“You should have told me after the first letter.” I took a deep breath before continuing. “But the damage has already been done.”
He gave me a guilty smile before changing the subject.
“We need to get ready for your show. Adam picked out the suit for you.”
After we got changed, I was shocked at the colors of Adam’s suit. A black suit with green tie and vest, and gold stitches all across it. It looked incredible on him by making his natural colors shine. My suit was black with a nice cream vest. A dark blue tie brought out the color of my dark blue eyes.
“Absolutely stunning.’ I heard Adam whisper and Sam started snickering at my face,
I flipped him off before we left for the show. As we walked, I could feel someone’s gaze on the back of my neck. Adam slipped his hand into mine as we continued. Sam was the main one talking to the gallery curator, when we got there, and I stayed back. The outfit felt stuffy and tight as the room started to fill with people. Adam stayed by my side as Sam was bouncing between people.
Right now, he was talking to a large round balloon, which was actually a rich woman. She was laughing at all of his bad jokes as he was attempting to make her his sugar mama. I looked around and realized that this was a alcohol free party, which means no drunken Sam again.
“Evans, all of artworks are perfect, just like you.” A guy said as he walked up to us. “I was worried that after you found someone else, that you would lose your artistic charm. But, I have seen it get better with this side lover.”
I felt Adam’s hand tighten in my grip as I was getting a bad feeling from this guy.
“Yes, as you pointed out, he is taken.” Adam said with a possessive growl in his voice.
I had to focus on the words because that growl was sexy, I wonder if I could make him growl in different ways.
“You are not for Evans! He deserves someone that has been there ever since he started. You are just some random stranger that is feeding on his fame.”
As this guy was talking, it felt like the room was shrinking as everyone started to stare at us. They continued shouting but it sounded like white noise. My breathing started to pick up, as they got worse.
“Security!” Sam’s voice rang out and snapped me out of my panic. “Get this person off the property!”
The guards started digging through the man’s pockets and found items that suggest he was going to kidnap me later. So this was the stalker that Sam was warning me about. As they were dragging the guy away, Adam took me to the janitorial closet as the panic started to come back. He closed the door and pulled me to his chest.
“Slowly breath in and out, follow my pattern.” I slowly started to follow him. “I am here and you will never be alone again. I will always be there for you.”
Small tears were coming down my face and I was worried about messing up his suit. His fingers were slowly going through my hair as the other was lightly tapping my fingers to match my breathing pattern.
“Please don’t leave me right now.”
“No matter the reason, I will stay by your side. Even if you need some alone time, I will never be too far away to hear your voice.”
I felt happy that the gods chose me to be blessed with Adam. Nevertheless, I felt bad about the tear streaks going down the front of his jacket from me.
“I am so sorry for ruining your nice outfit.” I said between sniffles.
“Clothes are replaceable, but your well being can never be replaced.” I kept on looking at the tear stains, so he took off his jacket. “There, if you are that worried, now no one can see them.”
His green vest did very little to hide the muscles under his shirt. As my eyes moved up, they caught his and he had a sexy smile on his face. He leaned forward and brushed his lips against my forehead. He had this calming relaxing aura around him that was helping fight the panic.
“Thank you.”
“It was no problem, now they should be done with all the drama by now.”
“I don’t want to go back out there. They are expecting some fancy artist like Da Vinci or Michaelo.”
“No, they came here expecting Evans and it will only be long enough for one final goodnight. Then I am taking you home and dragging you to bed.” My face started to burn from the blushing. “Just so you can curl up next to me for much needed rest and relaxation.”
“I love you so much right now.”
“I love you with all my heart.”
