I woke up to my alarm and got ready for school. I'm not feeling ready today. To be honest, I’m kinda nervous. It’s been a bit since mom and dad hung out together. I would love to get a chance to hang out with my dad’s boyfriend too. I’m kinda hoping that dad invited him to join us.
I look to the door to my bedroom after hearing a light knock on it. “Hey sweetie, you know I told you that you don’t have to go to school today, right?” Wow. I did. I even thought about hanging out with dad and still got ready for school. “I totally spaced it.”
I throw my backpack on the bed and throw off my shoes. “It’s only a natural habit,” Mom giggled, “Your dad will be here in a few hours, so we can drink a couple drinks til then if you want?” “Let’s do it!”
If mom wasn’t dragging me down the stairs right now then I would’ve grabbed my phone. I’m not in the mood to walk back up the stairs. I hope it won’t take dad too long to get here.
“If dad brings his boyfriend can they stay the night here? I have so many questions I wanna ask dad.” “Well, if you can get them to help you clean out the guest bedroom, then yeah.” Yes! “Bet.” Mom cracks open a beer and gives it to me. I have to admit that the taste of beer sucks ass, but it does it’s job.
Ugh. It’s been hours and dad still isn’t here yet. I can’t wait. “You're bouncing off walls waiting for your dad. I’ll give him a call to see what’s up.” I watch as mom walks over to the phone and dials dad’s number. She seems to be listening to the dialing still. Come on dad pick up. “Hey best friend! Your son has been patiently awaiting your arrival.”
I run upstairs to grab my phone real quick since mom is talking with dad. When I turn it on I find a few missed calls and messages from Tyler. What’s he doing calling me if he’s in school right now? I’ll just call him back. Dial… dial… dial... Come on just pick up the damn phone. You’re the one that wanted to call me in the first place anyway.
