“GET HELP!” Thomas screamed.
“Wha-” Isa turned to see what had caused Thomas to scream and run off. Violet-Rose was on the floor, straddled by Jace, with his hands once more around her neck. As Thomas ran towards them, Isabella ran away, in search of help.
------
“Help,” Isabella huffed. “Help! Help! HELP!”
Isabella ran in the direction of the medical bay. She knew that Violet-Rose would need medical attention, especially after everything she had gone through.
When Isabella found the trembling red-head underneath her bed, she knew that she had found someone special. She had a glow to her: something indescribable. And what perfect timing, Isabella needed a new teacher, and when she saw the girl, she knew that she would be the perfect fit. She had found her.
Seeing the girl in the light, Isabella got worried. This girl that she found was broken and scared. Isa didn’t know how she got there, or how she had made her way under the bed. All Isabella knew was that she had to protect her. And that started by getting her food and rest.
Isabella sent the girl to bed and went on the hunt for food. Once in the hallway, Thomas bombarded her with questions. She answered vaguely and fired questions of her own.
'Who was in the room with you?'
‘My new teach. Sophia. I found her. Where did you run off to for so long today?’
‘I met the most amazing nurse on the medical research floor. I tried to bring her to lunch, but I got called into an emergency meeting.’
'Oh, what was the meeting about?’
‘Come on, Isa, you know your brother doesn’t like it when I tell you details like this.’
‘But Thomas! I live here too! I have the right to know what’s going on!’
‘Fine, fine. You’re right. There’s a patient missing from the medical bay. You remember we were talking about the one who saved your brother’s life?’
‘Yeah? You said her name was a flower or something?’
‘Violet-Rose. She was being treated in the medical bay and suddenly, she disappeared.’
‘What does she look like?’
‘Long red hair, green eyes, short and slim. Hey. Wait a second. That’s exactly what the nurse I met looked like! I was duped!’
‘She said her name was Sophia.’ Isabella mumbled, but Thomas was too busy freaking out about running into Violet-Rose without his knowledge that he didn’t hear here. She knew then That she would do what it took to protect Violet-Rose. If that meant calling her Sophia, she would.
“Woah there, Isabella, where are you off to in such a hurry?” Isabella was so busy thinking of her first encounter with Violet-Rose that she didn’t even realize that she had run straight into Jared. Perfect. He could help.
“Jace-” Isabella huffed.
“What about Jace?” Jared’s face was pinched with worry. His twin hadn’t been acting like himself lately.
“Jace. Hurting Violet-Rose.” Isabella could barely get the words out.
Jared grabbed Isabella by the shoulders and shook her. Desperate. He knew the damage Jace could inflict. “Where?”
“By my room.” Isabella had just gotten the words out, and Jared was off, racing towards Isabella’s room.
Isa continued running towards the medical bay, taking the stairs two at a time, not trusting the elevator to get her there fast enough.
She slammed through the doors. Everyone in the room looked up at her. Noticing who it was, they all became concerned.
“Ms. Isabella? Is everything okay?” A nurse asked.
“NO!” Isabella placed her hands on her knees and was trying to inhale enough breath to get her message across. “Where is Dr. Biff? I NEED Dr. Biff.”
Dr. Biff ran up right as she said his name. He was on the shorter side, only 5’6”, built, but not stocky, with jade colored hair and grey eyes. He was just under 30, but stress lines could be seen in his face. A nurse had paged him as soon as Isabella ran in looking distressed.
“What’s wrong?” The doctor asked.
“Violet-Rose has been found, and she is hurt. You have to help me. Now.” Isabella was crying. She couldn’t help it. Violet-Rose was like an older sister to her. She made learning fun. She chased away the nightmares with her stories. Isabella refused to lose her so soon after finding her.
The doctor grabbed Isabella’s arm. “Lead the way.”
Isabella nodded and ran towards the elevator. She didn’t have the energy to go up that many stairs.
“Can you tell me how you found Violet-Rose?” Biff asked as soon as the elevator doors shut. He had been her attending physician. One minute she was in her bed in essentially a coma, the next, Jace was screaming at him that she was nowhere to be found. Her wounds had been healing, but there was still a long way to go. He was worried about internal bleeding and other complications.
“Well, long story short, I found her under my bed almost a week ago and she has been living with me as my teacher ever since.” Isabella rushed out.
Biff’s jaw dropped. There were few times that he was shocked into silence. This was one of them.
“She had bruises on her neck and wrists and when I looked for evidence, I found that it was one of the twins. I wasn’t sure which. That is until 2 minutes ago when I saw Jace strangling her again. You have to help her, Biff. You have to. I need her.” Isabella was crying and rambling. She was talking so fast that Biff almost couldn’t hear a word she said.
“You mean that she’s been re-injured at least twice in the past week?” Biff gulped.
Isabella nodded right as the elevator dinged open, revealing the top floor.
Isabella wasted no time. Seeing that the doors were open, she grabbed Biff by the arm and sprinted towards her room.
When they arrived, Biff gasped. The first thing he saw was Thomas sitting against the wall, holding a bloody nose, that Biff could tell was broken. There was Jace, handcuffed, and passed out with Jared above him. But most worrying, there was Rex, holding Violet-Rose’s head in his lap. She was pale and looked dead. Biff knew that the situation was bad, to say the least.
Upon hearing the footsteps, Rex looked up from the body in his arms. “help”
Biff gave a curt nod. From his tone, Biff knew that Rex thought she was dead, or very nearly there. “We’ll take her to Isabella’s personal medical room. Rex, be gentle, but pick her up and bring her there. I just hope we can save her.”
