Delilah and Tom - Present
- I'm curious, Tom. Here’s my plan: I'm going to the ladies room and I'm going to try to figure out who it is.
Thomas grabbed his friend's hand to keep it in place. He looked into her eyes.
- It's a man, Dede. He's probably with someone. He knows we're here. His energy changed right after we felt him. If he wanted to meet us, he would have come here. It’s time for dessert.
- I think it's unfair that you know all this without turning around.
- Unfair? I know of someone who does not develop her high sense because she thinks it is infinitely tedious.
- And it totally is! Closing your eyes and taking a deep breath is almost the same as sleeping. Is it my fault that it makes me sleepy?
Thomas smiles as he grabs her hand and kisses her knuckles.
- Your gift of simplifying the complex still fascinates me. Do you have any more to say on the subject or can we drink to our never boring friendship?
The other immortal's presence continued throughout the dinner, which disappeared when they were paying the bill. Delilah shook her hands and arms as if she wanted to release the tension she had felt all the time she had been sitting there. Who could he be?
The two walked along the river back home. It was nice to feel the fresh breeze in the hair after a hot summer day. At the entrance of Delilah's home, the two separated to meet an hour later at Heaven’s bar.
- Make yourself beautiful, doll. - Delilah laughed and shook her head. He knew perfectly well how much she hated that expression. "Doll," she repeated when she put the key in the door and opened it. What would her life be without him? After a quick shower, she was almost tempted to take one of the tops she had bought that day but they ended up in the laundry basket.
___/___ ___/___ ___/___
- Good to see you, Sleeping Beauty. What do you want to drink?
- I started with beer at dinner, just beer tonight, Joe. Has Tom arrived yet?
While biting inside his lower lip, Joseph looks attentively at the black liquid that falls into the glass.
- I made a bet with Annie that after last night, he is going to stop drinking. - Joseph points his chin at the door behind her and places the glass on the counter. - He just came in, Dede.
The darker hair, wet from the shower, and the brown shirt make the blue of Thomas’ eyes stand out. He looks like a true prince charming and Delilah hates the idea of throwing on the first t-shirt she saw. Joseph puts another glass down beside her beer.
- Water, Joe? Seriously? - Joseph winks at Tom as he steps away to serve another customer who has just arrived.
