Slade and I have found a small town called Scam Land.
I look to my left and I see Slade give me a slight smirk as if he knows something I don’t.
Does this little up start bastard think he knows more thing? Ridiculous!
“Hey! Are you coming or are you just gonna stand there looking dazed?” Slade asks with a smug tone.
I follow Slade into Scam Land.
The homes look almost abandoned and the people are more dirty than a peasant.
It seems like Slade knows his way around here, his smirk was trying to tell me something.
I should make it seem like I know how to navigate this trash heap of a town, that should put him in his place.
I ask, “You know your way around here Slade?”, Slade replies, “Of course I do Jervis, everybody in the land know this place like the back of their hand.”
Shit! Is he calling my bluff? Damn up start.
I see a young woman running up to me and says in a distressed tone, “Oh please! Help, I need a weapon to defend myself from those brutes!” she is pointing at a fence post.
This one is shady, I won’t give her my weapon.
She is pointing at a fence post.
I ignore her and walk with Slade.
Me and Slade enter the local shop in town that has a map of the surrounding land.
I look at Slade and say with a confident tone, “Watch a professional handle this!”.
I walk up to the shopkeep and I say, “I need the map of the surrounding land good sir!”.
He looks at me, reaches down under the selve and takes out a map.
“How much will it cost?” I ask.
He smiles and says, “That will 1000 gold pieces.”.
My jaw drops to floor.
“That’s a rip-off!” I shout out.
Slade is having a hardy laugh.
Slade says, “Hello Amer.”
The shopkeep says, “Hello Slade! Welcome back, did you trick this armored man?”
Was Slade trying to scam this whole time!? I swear if he was, I will kill him.
“This armored man was with the group that killed the Orc King. I would not be able to trick him.” Slade says.
Slade looks at me and says, “Jervis, this is the man that raised me, his name is Amer.”
Slade starts speaking again, “So, Amer will take 10 gold pieces for that map? I need it so I can help Jervis with his quest.”
The shopkeep agrees to this deal and we get a map.
As we leave Scam Land, I raise my middle finger at the town.
