It wasn’t a normal horse auction. A man watched a mare spin around a pole from his place in the the stands. A different man with a whip drove her forward. The center pole acted as a spindle, drawing her in tighter with each circle. As the mare was pulled closer and closer, the whipping grew faster. Soon, she’d be trapped. There would be no escape from torment. She continued to try to get away in fear. This wasn’t lunging a horse to show them off, this was torture.
