Henry’s phone rang while he was in a meeting.
The presenter of the report suddenly stopped speaking. All the people in the table cast a glance at the CEO. He did not like it if meetings were interrupted. So he did not take any calls while conducting a meeting with them.
When Henry answered the call, he was met with the boy’s complaints.
“You said I was just going to act. Why do I have to fill up and sign all these papers?”
“I told you it was a job, right?”
“Yeah but I think your assistant made a mistake.”
Henry turned his gaze to Andre. He seemed to put too much trust on his assistant that’s why he made an error.
“Would you care to elaborate?” Henry asked.
“It says here marriage contract, prenuptial agreement, NDA, and insurance.”
Henry smirked.
“I think my assistant made an excellent job with the documents.”
Andre held his breath when he was mentioned by Mr. Kingsley. Was there something missing with the papers that he dropped off at the boy’s apartment?
“Isn’t it supposed to be an Employment Contract?”
“Just sign the forms. Andre will pick them up later in the evening.”
All the legal documents had been prepared and filed. All they needed to do was to have a personal appearance to finalize the registration. Miguel was surprised at how fast and efficient the process was, but then again, he didn’t know how extensive Mr. Kingsley’s capabilities were.
Miguel stood outside the building for some time lost in his thoughts. He suddenly felt cold feet. He felt uncomfortable about this transaction. It was crazy.
He felt a hand at the small of his back. Despite the clothes he wore he could feel the warmth emanating from that hand. Scared, he moved away but an arm wrapped around his waist preventing him from moving. He turned his body only to be met by a thick hard chest. His nose was assaulted by rich perfume and a scent that was unique to Mr. Kingsley. He looked up and saw the said man looking down at him.
“Did you read through the forms?” The piercing green eyes caught Miguel off guard.
“Yeah.”
“What did you understand about it?”
Miguel tried to organize his thoughts and recall the pages upon pages of documents.
“That this contract will be effective for two years only; that we- the two parties will go through a divorce; and that I should keep this a secret. I think.”
“Very good.” Henry smirked.
Miguel was pulled as Mr. Kingsley walked inside the building.
Once all the ceremonies were done, Andre drove Miguel back to his apartment while the driver, Tony, brought the boss to the company headquarters.
“I am Andre Silva, personal assistant to Mr. Kingsley. You may call me in case you need something.” He passed a calling card to Miguel as he spoke.
“Pardon me for my words. But these are all for your own benefit. Since you are now married to Mr. Kingsley you have to live at his place. Remember the NDA. You are to conduct yourself in a manner befitting your status as Mr. Kingsley’s spouse. Do not embarrass him in front of other people. You may take this time to start packing. Someone will help you move your things later this afternoon.”
Moving to Mr. Kingsley’s house? That was not their agreement at all. Miguel looked up at his phone book and called the “Devil”. It rang twice before the call was received.
“Mr. Kingsley moving to your place was not included in our agreement at all. Wasn’t it written in our agreement that there shall be no interfering with each other’s life?”
“How would you perform your role if you were not with me? Surely you wouldn’t runaway with my money before fulfilling your tasks?”
“I- No. I… You are right. I’m sorry.”
Miguel hung up.
He started packing his stuff. Once he was done, he looked at his things that were placed near the front door. In the nine months into his stay in U country he only had two luggage filled with clothes and a few stuffs with some space to spare. He was truly a minimalist.
He cleaned up the apartment and threw the garbage properly. The apartment looked clean as it was when he arrived. Then he went to the landlady and told her about ending the lease to his apartment. Apparently, all had been taken care off so they just chatted for a while until he noticed the time. Miguel returned the keys to the landlady and said his final goodbyes.
The driver helped him carry his bags. Once the car started to move, Miguel felt a pit in his stomach.
In a foreign country he had to be on guard to preserve himself. There was no telling what could happen. It was easy to fall victim into the hands of bad people especially since he did not look like an ordinary citizen of U country.
As the vehicle approached the estate, Miguel marveled at the sheer size of it. Back then when he was too concerned about running away. So, he did not notice much of his surroundings.
The driver carried his luggage to his room while Ystell received him in the living room.
“We have met before but we haven’t talked much. Let me reintroduce myself, I am Ystell Brown. I have been working in the Kingsley family since Henry was born. You could say I was his nanny growing up.” She smiled.
Ystell’s skin had a nice dark chocolate color. She looked kind and lovely. Miguel immediately felt at ease with her. The old lady brought him to his room to get himself settled and rested first.
Upon entering the room Miguel was surprised at the design. The room was very large but had a homey feel to it. The bed was large and could fit four people of his size. It was lifted on a platform. The carpet was thick and blended well into the room.
Towards another size was a walk-in wardrobe comparable to the size of his apartment. Miguel saw that all his clothes were already hanged properly and placed neatly on the cabinets. His clothes occupied only one thirty sixth of the walk-in wardrobe. His only two shoes looked miniscule in the wide shoe cabinet. There was also a wooden dresser with a large mirror near the window.
The bathroom was also almost as big as the wardrobe. It looked bright and neat with the natural light coming from the windows. There was a separate area for the large jacuzzi which overlooked the sky.
Miguel felt good being able to sleep in such a nice room. He noted the aesthetics and the design in the room. It seemed very well thought off and provided the feeling of comfort. He aspired to design a place that could also provide happiness to other people.
He knew that his stay at this lavish place would not last. He did not like to covet things that were not his. He resolved to work hard to earn more money. By the time the two-year contract ends, he planned to pay back the money that he considered as a loan from Mr. Kingsley.
