After a more productive than he had anticipated it to be first week. Yuuto had hoped to get back to learning about the basics of magic. That of course could only happen once he actually returned to class. At the moment he was in the disciplinary committee office sitting in a swivel chair. The office itself was dark with the only visible window being a lone one which hung over the only desk in the room. The blinds had been pulled so only patches of light snuck in.
“So, do you know why you’re here?”
No, not really. You guys just pulled me out of class. Then you started yelling out me about how I broke school rules about fighting on campus. I didn’t fight another student. Hell, what about that trio of morons that started this mess are they getting yelled at?
“Well, Yuuto do you know?” Mr. Yoshida yelled the question again.
Mr. Yoshida wore a white no sleeves top with two vertical red lines going down the right half. His dark eyes were hard to see because of the current condition of the room so it was hard for Yuuto to tell if he was being stared at. The other more “normal” disciplinary committee members were staring at him. He knew that.
“Honestly I’m not too sure. I didn’t get into a fight with anyone so…”
“Well that’s one of the reason. But that’s not the main reason you’re here.”
“What is the main reason he is here? Dai?” A female member of the disciplinary committee asked.
“It’s Mr. Yoshida, remember that Ms. Shinomori and he is here because he took down a upper level D class Lizard Spawn without a scratch on him.”
Ms. Shinomori sat at the edge of the desk stroking her long purple hair. Only one of her eyes were visible while the other was covered by her hair. She glanced at the other committee members then back at Mr. Yoshida.
“Does anyone else see a problem here?” She asked.
Neither Ken nor Kou the other disciplinary committee members said a word. Ken just wiped his glasses while Kou nodded off.
Only about half the people here look like they could be on a disciplinary committee. Mr. Ken looks like he would go on and on about being a pillar of virtue and Ms. Shinomori looks like she knows what she doing. But why in the world is Mr. Yoshida a member he’s just so loud and…wait is the last member a child. What the hell is going on here?
“Maybe if Mr. Yoshida explained why taking down a D rank lizard spawn…”
“This kid barely made it into this school. He passed the entrance exam by the skin of his teeth. Meaning there is no way he is capable of such a feat.”
“So, what you’re saying Yoshi is that he couldn’t have been slacking off the day of the exam. Or he could just be bad at taking test. Either way none of those are reasons for him to be in trouble.”
Mr. Yoshida glared at Kou for a moment.
Whoa, maybe there is a reason this kid is on the disciplinary committee.
“I know what you’re thinking. I’m not a kid, alright.”
Yuuto froze in place for a moment hoping Kou would just forget he was there.
“Don’t call me Yoshi. It’s Yoshida, Yo-shi-da. Isn’t a little suspicious to anyone. I mean why hide your ability unless there is some sort of trick. I don’t know about you all. But I find it highly unlikely that this student is gifted, there has to be something else at play here.”
Hey, no reason to be rude. This guy just seems to wanna string me up and wavy me around like I’m some sort of delinquent.
“First off it’s a little too earlier to determine his true capabilities. Fortunately Mr. Yoshida there are measure in place for such a thing. In the meantime Yuuto, you’ll be put on probation during which you have to clean out the storage sheds after school for the next three weeks.”
Mr. Ken spoke with a voice which was both calm yet stern.
“Mr. Ken, exactly why do I have to do that?”
“The details are all sketchy but it seems like the storage shed and the courtyard were damaged during that skirmish of yours. So like they say you broke it now you gotta pay.”
“That’s not how that saying goes and I’m only responsibly for the…”
Kou grinned at Yuuto widely as if he had caught him in a trap. Mr. Yoshida puffed out his chest and stomped toward Yuuto. Once he was standing in front of him he jabbed a finger at his chest and said.
“I’m gonna keep an eye on you.”
Oh great that’s exactly what I need.
“Well I guess we just have to talk to the other students now.” Ms. Shinomori commented without prompting.
What! Why the hell did they talk to me first? I was the last one to show up. What kind of backwards ass way of dealing with things is that?
“You know you can leave now. Right?” Kou looked at the others while Ken simply waved Yuuto away.
Yuuto got up without saying a word and left the disciplinary committee room. It took a lot of restraint for Yuuto not to slam the door to the disciplinary committee room on his way out.
I was wrong that silver haired kid has no idea what he’s doing. He looks like he should still be in elementary school. And why the hell does Mr. Yoshida have it out for me? It’s been that way since the entrance exam. So what if I barely passed, it’s like he has a personal vendetta against me because of that.
“Hey, I have a…”
Seriously how could a guy like that even be a teacher? I mean it’s gonna be some kind of ethical issues to have a random vendetta against a student. It’s not like I even did anything wrong. It’s all those jackasses fault, if I see those guys again they’re gonna wish…
“Hey you, where is the disciplinary committee room.”
Without looking at the person Yuuto jerked his thumb back pointing it behind him.
“Much appreciated.”
A few footsteps clapped against the ground infrequently. Yuuto turned around suddenly and saw no one behind him.
“Who the hell was that? Could it be the guy from earlier?”
He didn’t dwell on the thought for long, instead he continued rambling to himself until he reached his classroom.
“Everything go alright?”
“Great, just great Mr. Hazaki.”
Yuuto took his seat then sighed while noticing that someone had taken the seat of the kid with the glasses. Strangely enough because of that there was a seat open to Yuuto’s right.
What a shitty way to begin the second week of school.
