Milo took over his mind and the instinct to run after his prey kicked in.
Even though he hasn't been out hunting since he was a child, with his family, he still had dreams of running through the forest. It was strange for him, because after he turned sixteen, his dreams began to include a midnight blue wolf. Every time he asked Milo about it, all he got was guilty silence. The wolf never got close enough for him to make out any defining features.
What concerned him was the fact that ever since he left Chris' house, the wolf has gotten consistently closer, so close that he could see the cool blue blending into a emerald green, the most beautiful eyes he had every seen. Whenever Kye closes his eyes, all he can see are those deep soulful eyes. He could drown in the depth of the cool blue ocean, fall in the tall grass of the rolling green hills.
Kye realized that as he had been day-dreaming, Milo had pounced on his kill, a fair-sized rabbit.
'Can we eat now, Kye? I'm soooo hungry.' Milo spoke in his usual whiny voice.
'My gosh, Milo, we will eat now, ok?'
Milo didn't answer, just dug into their kill with vigor. Kye quickly devoured meat, finishing it, and loving the way his stomach is full for the first time since he had been locked up in his tiny room at Chris's house. He sees the sun going up and knows that soon he will fall asleep, delighted that he won't be prodded awake by Chris to be shown off to any of his black market friends.
He was growing groggy by the second so he dashed towards a cave, not caring to look for any scents. He went inside the cave, laying down in a corner and drifted off to sleep, not knowing he was not alone.
