"What?" I looked around slightly annoyed that I was woken.
Raven was leaning really close to my face. I nearly fell out of the tree but he caught me by my shirt. He leaned forward to whisper in my ear.
"Vamps, their here," I could feel his breath on my neck.
He leaned back again and let go of my shirt, drawing out his bat.
I did the same, untying the rope that kept me from falling to my death.
We glanced down at the forest floor.
Three vamps were scuttling around the place, sniffing the dry leaves. One was bigger than the rest which was alarming. Their mutilated milky white skin shone in the moonlight making them a bit obvious. Their long tails whipped back and forth, slicing anything in their way in half. Their mouths were slightly open, showing off their rows of razor-sharp teeth. Their claws grasped the dirt, making a dry sound. Their spines jutted from their hunched backs, spiky and deadly.
I had never seen a vamp this close up.
Suddenly the largest one's head snapped up. Raven and I ducked back into the leaves.
I could hear growling and loud sniffing. The two others were already climbing up the tree.
Raven nodded at me.
We jumped down at the same time, running even before we hit the ground.
We jumped over fallen logs and branches, the vamps at our heels.
The vamps were a hair away from turning us into shreds.
Raven fell suddenly, yelping on the way down.
One of the vamps had him by the ankle. The vamp was twisting it between his claws.
Raven glared at them.
He yanked his foot back and continued running. The vamps growled angrily.
We were running and suddenly he yanked me back. He had found a little hollow tree trunk to hide in. It was small so it had us pressing up against each other a little uncomfortably. Raven's head was pressed into my chest and my arm around his shoulders.
Not now gay thoughts.
We held our breath, listening for the sounds.
We could no longer hear the growling and sniffing.
He still pressed closer to my chest, not saying a thing. My arm around him pulled him closer.
We waited for five minutes before Raven stepped out.
"I think we're-" He was interrupted by a flash of something jumping on top of him.
A vamp was pinning him to the ground snarling and drooling. I gasped, charging forward to bash the side of the vamp's head.
The neck cracked loudly but set back into place when it turned to me. His entire face fucking opened and showed off his teeth.
He charged at me, pinning me to the forest floor.
His teeth got closer and closer to my face until he was unexpectedly thrown off me.
Raven was standing a few feet away already battling one of the smaller ones. The leader had been tossed into a tree, the body crumpled at the base. It still goes up and ignored its twisted ankle and charged at me again.
I threw it off with my feet turning to the next one.
This one tried to slash my abdomen open but I dodged it and plunged my knife into the stomach. It clawed it out and continued attacking me.
Raven from across the clearing had managed to climb onto the back of one of them and slash their neck open.
This one tried to buck him off but he held onto him tightly.
Raven squeezed his neck making the blood gush out faster. The creature staggered and fell to the floor.
My vamp had already advanced on me. I charged forward but it caught my knife and twisted it out of my hands. It pinned me to the ground mercilessly.
He leaned closer, its breath tossing my hair like the wind. Drool dribbled from its mouth, slimy and hot. I squirmed but he held strong.
He raised his claws over my throat.
Suddenly he's thrown against the tree, suspended in the air.
My head snapped to Raven.
He had his hand raised toward the vamp. The other one was struggling in the air too.
I gasped.
Raven moved his hand to the left and the vamps smashed into a large boulder, dying instantly. Their bodies crumpled and bled.
Raven seemed to realize they were dead and clutched his head.
A howl sounded through the night.
"Run," Raven whispered.
We turned around at the same time.
great, now we had hounds on our heels.
I silently wondered what the heck had just happened.
Who was Raven? Why the hell did he have freaky powers?
I heard Raven cough violently up ahead.
We were reaching a cliff but he kept running.
"Raven! There's a cliff!" I shouted.
"I know!" He shouted back.
He stopped at the last moment.
"We can't stay here," Raven said. His hair had fallen out of its ponytail.
Blood was dripping down his chin.
"Your bleeding-again," I said.
He sighed and whipped off his mask. I nearly gasped.
His skin was white and looked soft. Raven had a swan neck and a collar bone that jutted out of his chest. He had hollow cheeks and thin limbs. He had grey stormy blue eyes. His eyebrows and eyelashes were also white like his hair. I hadn't noticed before but his hair had a bit of a wave to it. His skin looked incredibly soft. His cheeks were a bit rosy. I noticed that one ear had been ripped off in what looked like a brutal manner. A nasty scar replaced it.
Blood was currently dripping out of his nose.
Raven grimaced.
"Here-" I handed him a piece of cloth. He took it from me, glancing away.
"Thanks," He used it to clean his mask. A question hung between us but neither of us said anything.
"Let's go," Raven said, lowering himself off the cliff. I carefully followed his steps. Once we reached the bottom we found a small town to camp in.
Raven lit a small fire to keep us warm.
He took off his mask again, throwing it to the side.
I tried my best not to stare at him.
He took off the heavy jacket he was wearing. Under that, he was wearing an oversized grey sweater that exposed one of his pale shoulders. It was ripped in places.
Damn, he was pretty.
