I convinced the campus security guards to give me access to the surveillance cameras. It took slightly longer than I thought to check for frequent meetings between Mackenzie and Hades. Thankfully, there weren’t too many to be suspicious. It appeared that they mostly communicated over text. Next I called Mackenzie’s parents. The police had already notified them of their daughter’s death so they were more than willing to talk to me about her. She was an average child with loving parents who worked hard to give her anything she could want. Though her parents loved her and tried to be there for her, they were rarely at home. As she got older, her popularity increased and her relationship with her parents decreased. She became a feisty, moody teen who kept secrets, and answered to no one. Mackenzie left for college with a strained family dynamic, and rarely called home. I decided to talk to some of the minions who followed her or the boys she had gone out with. I was surprised at what I found. For someone so popular, she didn’t have many friends. No one really knew who she was as a person, she was a name and a pretty face with no story. Everyone seemed to worship her yet nobody seemed to know her. From a character standpoint alone, murder or suicide were equal possibilities. To determine once and for all which was the truth it was time to confront Hades.
