"Like the one that surrounds places like the preserves?" asked Callie.
"Well, yes, but this one works at little differently. Rather than physically repelling people away from the tome, this distracter spell works to fool readers by displaying seemingly unimportant false texts in place of what's really written down."
"Why not just write it in a fairy language or something?" asked Aaron.
"Because people would still find a way to translate it. But no one's going to bother translating something that's written in a language they're fluent in. However, since Callie is fairy kind, her powers enabled her to see through the phony text and allowed her to read what's really written in the tome. But think about it, this book shouldn't even be written in English if it's likely older than the English language itself! "
"If only it had a copyright date," said Aaron.
"Mind if I ask what these instruments of eternal power are all about, Paul?" questioned Tamara.
