But seriously, what is up with that ? Japanese people, are you really like that ? ._. Doesn't dating pretty much start with kissing ? (And really awkward non-shojoesque first kisses that make you want to never do that again ahahah)

Different people, different personalities? That, and the love story must be complicated so that the author can write something about it, having shy characters can help lenghtening the story, I guess. As for how frustrating it is... well, yes, maybe, but you read them, right? (and so do I sometimes) So it must work somehow.
