I thank Your Majesty for the few months I was lucky enough to work for you, at Roune Castle. I sent money back home in Darces, it made my secret shame easier to tolerate.
The Head Housekeeper said, on my first day of employment, that our daily chores will involve pleasing The King, and that it would be... 'repugnant, but perfunctory' and 'would not take much time'. To be warned, do not come to her, crying. And that The King was even less tolerant to tears. I knew all that, it was why the wages were good, why the promises of gifts.
