There has been one rule Dewi has repeatedly been told to not break since he was a pup. Don't go anywhere near the grounds of the abandoned castle. He tried, he really did try to follow that rule, but it was like something was always calling to him. He was just drawn to it.
Someone from his pack always stopped him, but the pull just got stronger. Then one day there was no one who stopped him. And nothing happened. It wasn't any different from the woods his pack always roam.
He questions what's so dangerous to make it forbidden as he explores deeper and deeper. Eventually he comes across something different, a frail young man resting in the moonlight. He looks to be the same age as Dewi though he knows that can't be correct since humans age quicker than those of his pack.
"Greetings Sir.” The man starts at his voice. “What’s a pretty thing like you doing out in these dangerous woods so late into the night?”
The man looks at Dewi with an expression that’s a mix of wariness and amusement. “Dangerous?”
“Of course. There’s wolves and all kinds of creatures of the night that I’m sure would love to take a bite of you.”
“If such creatures roam these woods then what are you doing here?”
"Well, I obviously have ways to defend myself."
The dark stranger isn't shy about giving Dewi a deep look over. "I'm sure you do."
"More than some idiot that decides to take a nap in the woods without anything to ward off predators."
"I…. What's your point?"
"Pretty little thing like you, you're lucky you met me. I can protect you."
"Is that so? Well I guess I wouldn't mind the company. Should be heading home soon though."
"Then I'll escort you home. Lead the way, good sir." The man chuckles but is silent other than that as he starts walking the opposite way Dewi came from. They walk a ways in the stillness. The man is such an easy prey, defenseless and trusting, and yet the ‘bite’ Dewi feels the urge to take of him isn’t the usually kind with food.
After a while, Dewi realizes they are moving closer to the castle and tenses up. "What's wrong, wolf cub? Scared? I thought you said you'd protect me."
"You… you knew?"
"Of course. I've waited over a thousand years for you. As if I wouldn't be able to tell." As he talks, Dewi finally notices his fangs. "Stay with me, Dewdrop? Your pack probably assumed I killed you the moment you entered my territory."
"I.. I don't know…"
"Please, my Love.” The vampire takes Dewi’s hand in his. “This time we can live together forever. I don't think I can live without you again." It is then that Dewi realizes that he knows the pale man, not from this life but another one, and his mind is instantly made up.
“Anything for you, Blake.”
