Breathtaking. Gorgeous. He has always been able to see those of the Veil, even witnessed a few other Fae before, but they pale in comparison. The creature’s skin is like star light. It’s long flowing hair like fire and it’s eyes capture his very soul.
Blake doesn’t know what caused him to venture into the woods this morning. Something just drew him out into the misty morning air. He would have thought it a siren’s song except he found himself to be immune to their call long ago. No creature’s magic could ensnare him and yet he stands enchanted by the young Fae.
Stunning. Alluring. Blake takes an unconscious step out of the shadows towards the bewitching individual. It seems surprised to see him here but as if it was already aware of his presence. The silence between them is charged, filled with an energy that is both intimate and unfamiliar. Blake feels the desire to say something but to not break the quiet.
“You…” The Fae’s voice is warm like the blaze of a hearth. “Are not a simple mortal.” It is neither a question nor a statement. Blake has no reply, only being drawn closer. Most beings of the Veil flee when they realize they have been spotted by those of the human lands. This one is unbothered by his proximity. He doesn’t even realize when they are within touching distance of each other.
“You are so enchanting….” The reverent whisper passes his lips without him even noticing. It obviously hears his words for it smiles bright as a star.
“I am called Dewdrop as my pair is prophesied to be like the waters of dawn. What may I call you, child of man?”
“Blake. I am known as Blake Aquara, son of Vivian Aquara and descendant of the moon.”
“Blake…” The Fae, Dewdrop, seems to be testing out how the name feels on its lips. It sounds like a melody on the breeze when spoken by them. “Blake… Will… will you come... with me?”
This is not just a passing, wanting to show him something, question. There is a finality to it, one that he can never go back from. Still, Blake can only nod. “Anywhere.”
Dewdrops’ eyes shine as they smile. “Become…? Blake Aquara, descendant of moonlight, would you do me the honor of becoming my pair? Live beside me as my equal in all things.”
“Of course, My Love.” As he takes the offered hand, Blake never looks away from Dewdrop. Not even as they walk farther and farther away from his childhood home forever.
When Blake’s brother, Lucius, can’t find him the next day, he isn’t too surprised. He always knew it would probably happen. Eventually, the Veil always reclaims its own. Blake is no exception.
