You woke up with a muzzy groan, vision blurred. What happened…?
Your head throbbed as you tried to remember the last thing that happened. There was what appeared to be the wreck of an exploded machine behind you, and concrete walls beside you. Feet rushed down the stairs, and you moved into a long-forgotten ready stance. Never thought Dad’s ‘training’ would come in handy again, didja? you idly snarked at yourself as whoever it was approached. You took your childhood gladius from your purse, and the golf club-
“what- the fr-?” A skeleton in an orange hoodie raised his? skeletal equivalent of eyebrows in surprise as he stumbled from the last step.
“…Hi?” You hedged out, more confused than shocked. Were the undead really back in style? You thought for sure they were just a fad… On that note, he doesn’t have a scrap of meat on his body...?
“uh, you’re… you’re real, right? i’m not seeing things?” Your grip tightened on your blade.
”Yeah, last time I checked.” You quipped, keeping your eyes on his hands. Who knew if this construct had a malignant master or mistress waiting in the shadows, just ready to pounce?
“ugh… how am i supposed to send you back before-?!” He jumped, already looking exhausted as louder footsteps came down as well.
“PAPY! WHAT WAS THAT ‘BOOM’-?” You thought you couldn't get more surprised, but there was a squat, armor-clad skeleton ducking under 'Papy's' arm, large cyan eyes? eye...lights? abruptly landing on you, clutching a gladius with one hand and a purse with the other. “A HUMAN! PAPY, YOU DIDN’T TELL ME WE HAD GUESTS!“
He straightened up, nearly knocking ‘Papy’ back. “I AM THE MAGNIFICENT AND LOVABLE SANS, AND YOU, HUMAN, WILL BE JOINING US FOR DINNER!”
You blink, stance loosening. “Wait, you-”
“PERFECT!” ‘Sans’ boomed, already jumping up the stairsteps. Completely befuddled, you turned to ‘Papy’. “So… what’s going on?”
He shrugged, slouching as he held out his hand. “eh, it’s a long story. you a big fan of tacos?”
You took it, shoving your gladius back into your purse as you slung over your head. “Never tried ‘em, let’s find out!”
Little did you know that your KINDNESS that day would cause so much pain and heartbreak in the future...
