So then a goodbye was near. They chatted a little more, but it was all chitchat. The announcement for the next planeterial shuttle sounded through the hall. They said their goodbyes to the giants and went towards the gate. Each of them holding their stuffed backpacks and jackets under one arm and their ticket in another. Sarah felt like she was going on a plane. Calla told her it is somewhat similar, however she felt terribly anxious. The row into the shuttle went slow as each person was thoroughly checked with both tickets and identifications. Dylan started to get a little nervous. Was it really ok to travel without ID? Dylan took a deep breath when he gave the very large human man his ticket. The man smiled professionally and inspected the ticket thoroughly, he was still holding out his other hand, in expectation for an identification, but while he was reading, his stretched out hand relaxed. The man smiled at Dylan, gave him his ticket back and gestured towards the inside of the shuttle.
“Welcome on board, sir.”
The same ritual went by with the other three. They entered the shuttle and the awe was clear on their faces. The shuttle was large, obviously, but it was meant for humans from Dera, with a few seats a little larger, most likely meant for humans from Gaia. The seats were situated in rows, similar to aeroplanes. Large windows on the sides. A small young lady welcomed them on board. She looked at their tickets to point them towards their seats. Thomas walked in front of them, behind some other passengers who were pushing their bags into cabinets that fell out of the ceiling. Robotic arms grabbed the bags and pulled them inwards while closing the cabinets, as the passengers sat down. Thomas looked around a little awkwardly. He didn’t want to look like he never did this before, but obviously, he never did this before. He looked at the numbers of the seats that were hanging above the seats in the same strange transparent type screens. He found their seats. Two times two seats next to a large window. He looked up to the ceiling and saw the cabinets with the corresponding seat numbers. However, there didn’t seem to be a lit to open the cabinet with. He stared at the ceiling for a little while. Then a man behind him tapped him on his arm. Thomas turned around and unwillingly showed the unknown man his confusion. The man smiled.
“You just press on the number.” He explained. Thomas' face flushed red from embarrassment and he turned around quickly while muttering.
“I knew that…”
Sarah who was behind him shook her head and rolled her eyes.
“Thank you, sir.” she sighed to the man and smiled at him. The man smiled back and nodded in understanding. Thomas pressed his finger on the number of his seat. The door opened and a small kind of lift with robotic arms hung out of it. He pushed his bag on the lift like a plateau and hung his jacket on a small hook that was above it. The robotic arms grabbed everything securely and the cabinet rolled back up. The others did the same. When they moved to sit down they noticed the numbers that had been floating above their seats had gone away. Once they sat down, belts appeared from their sides, one for over their lap and one for over a shoulder towards the hip. The shuttle closed the doors and the stewards and stewardesses took place in front of everyone, in the middle and in the back.
“Oh, this is like being in a plane.” Sarah said, almost relieved. Screens appeared in front of them with instructions. A voice came through the shuttle explaining the video on the screens. The stewards and stewardesses gestured with their hands to show where everything was and how to access emergency necessities. Afterwards, they also took place in seats in front and in the back. Just like a plane.
