10. Now it’s the middle of the night and Dawn wakes up suddenly after hearing these words in her sleep, “the truth lies within Mt. Paradoxia...” In what sounds like Lady Maldu's voice.
She wakes up and looks around, then she tries to fall back asleep, but she keeps hearing these words over and over again, interrupting even her dreams.
She bolts up to wake up the others, but it seems like they are just fast asleep, in a deep sleep, not even feeling her presence there.
She ponders, trying to fall back to sleep herself, until she hears a loud thunder-like sound wake her right back up, but turning to everyone else, they are all still fast asleep.
Getting up and washing up before changing into her warrior outfit, she makes her way to Mt. Paradoxia. It takes her quite a while to reach the huge mountain, but she makes it to the beginning where two huge doors are changing drastically of every color.
On top is flashing nothing but beautiful lights, like auroras, and the majestic atmosphere around it just makes it more beautiful. There is also an eerie feel to it though, something sinister almost.
Dawn tries to simply open the doors, but it seems like a certain force is behind it, most likely snow.
“This mountain has doors too? Why don't I remember that yet?” She says to herself, then she gets closer to it, causing a bunch of snow to fall off of it, almost falling on her.
She rubs her arms, thinking to herself that she should go back and get the others again. "Yeah...This isn't going to work, we have to do this together," she hits her head, "duh Dawn."
Sighing, she turns around to walk back over to tell the others what she was hearing, hoping they would wake up this time.
But then something grabs her.
She lets out a quick little, "ah!" Before looking back in an instant reflex, taking out her sword and facing…
Twilight?
“You ran here last night? What makes a difference then, we must all have the same plan after all, huh.” Dawn puts her sword down, standing straight before Twilight who calms her down.
“I was going to do it without you guys, or maybe without them.”
“What do you mean, we always work together?”
"If that's the case, why did you come out here by yourself?" He smirks.
Looking around, Dawn says, "You didn't happen to hear thunder did you?"
Twilight looks up, "it's not even cloudy."
"But...I got up because I was hearing Lady Maldu's voice? Telling me that I'll find my answers at Mt. Paradoxia, if it's truly called something so ridiculous." She laughs a little, holding her arms as if she is cold.
"I didn't hear a thing Dawn, neither Lady Maldu, are you sure you weren't just dreaming?"
"After all that's happened, this could be a freaking dream."
He shakes his head, "it's not Dawn, I'm here." He holds her arm again to where Dawn can clearly feel the pressure again.
"See?"
She shrugs her arm off from his grip, "yeah, I see now, just...What are you doing?"
“About you and I, that plan we made together, we can try to fulfill it today.”
“Twilight, you have to explain all of this better, I'm still so confused and still mad about how you broke our crystals and made Dusk and I lost our memory, then you just want me to go somewhere with you and leave everyone else? That makes no sense?”
“I’m realizing that breaking your crystals didn’t help much, it let go of what I wanted it too. Your life you had to see again, that I didn't want, I just wanted to erase something that happened here."
"What?? Then what happened here?" Dawn puts her arms down to think, then Twilight says, "I don't know! You knew! I don't believe what I did affected everything, I feel like you still know, and are just ashamed to tell the others."
"So you don't know?"
"I only know that it has something to do with the Eastern Island."
"Are you trying to go there with me today? We are in the middle of an important mission."
"Yes, still, and I would tell the others, it's just...I don't remember exactly what it was that you wanted me to do, something that you had planned, I thought if I could," stopping himself from going further, he turns around, "I know breaking your crystal was wrong, I was just mad that you wouldn't go through with it and tell me, I was hoping I could change that."
Twilight walks closer to her, looking her in her eyes saying, “I broke your crystals because you broke a promise to me. When you were seventeen, and I was twenty-two, you were explaining how you felt about being here so young and lost, and that your family was mistreating you and praising Dusk only about being a warrior, and when your mother had your little sister, she neglected you in a way."
"You told me this during your birthday, that you didn’t want to go back after how much you were already enjoying the island, opposite of Dusk, who missed his family. You told me that you wanted to stay here for good, and I told you my horrific life and agreed with you. But you were so young and didn’t want to tell Morlagon or Lady Maldu yourself. So, I told them the story, and why I didn’t want to go back, then they rejected every word, feeling as if I just hated everything and what I was fighting for."
Twilight steps back saying, “then you, when I told them about what you said, you acted as if you never even talked to me, you lied to them all and said that you never would want to stay here at all! You had them think that I did this myself, when you came up with the whole message, and now you want to keep being the good girl, and keep everyone on your Evening like actions, but I know you Dawn, I know what you said to me, and you promised to help me through it just like our training days. You were so close to me, and it’s only been three years, three years! And this is what I get, after all I’ve been through!”
“Twilight I…I was seventeen?”
“You don’t remember, this doesn’t even make sense anymore.”
"You broke Dusk and I's crystals! That's why I don't remember!"
"That's not why I did that! I did that because you were going to tell me, but then you stopped, I wanted it all to reverse in a way, like changing time just for that moment, so that you can continue with our plan, help each other, and Dusk...He knew about it from you, so I had to reverse his too."
"That's evil Twilight, that mindset, it's selfish?"
“I’m evil? Is that what I am for telling the truth?”
“No, it’s your fault for erasing our memories, I'm not going to understand any of this now, and why did you bring Dusk? Regardless, he had nothing to do with what we told each other, he never did!”
“He got caught in the middle.” Twilight confirms, “since he wanted to find Daylight in this area.”
“That is indeed selfish Takashi, do you ever think that maybe I changed my mind?”
“Well maybe I’m torturing you for forgetting what we had, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to go through with our plan." He takes out his sword.
“Oh, so you’re just a big baby, is that what all this is! And now you want to fight again, based on what! I have no memory of that now! You got rid of the wrong thing!”
Twilight starts saying after, “Maldu erased more of your memory, I know I didn't cause everything to go. Dusk might still remember more things because that talk was between you and I, not him, so, Maldu must have done something on purpose because she hated the idea so much.”
“So, I have the same thoughts as you…But even so, I definitely do feel that it's right now.” Dawn takes out her sword as well, ready to fight him.
“And if you change your mind to agree with everyone else, it will not matter because I take promises seriously.”
He walks up to her, taking her hand and placing it on his chest saying, “my heart does, it’s where everyone I ever loved is stuck now. Dawn, when you came with your brother, Anun and Ella, and saw Nooun and I talking about what happened, he seems to be the only one who understands, and feels bad for me and you. I went to Maldu, and she told me what she did.”
“So, to summarize it all, you and I thought the same, and cared for each other like everyone else does, and Dusk must have something to do with this, and why he ran away, as your brother, he wanted to turn your thoughts around, so when we go on the mountain, we are going to get answers for everything, unless…”
Dawn cuts him off saying, “no Twilight, I’m glad my memories were erased, because I know now that we cannot stay here!”
Aiming her sword at him, Twilight and Dawn begin fighting, going on for about thirty minutes before Twilight kicks Dawn in her knee, causing her to fall to the ground, with him grabbing her neck and saying, “you will not break your promise!”
Dawn grabs his arm, managing to get herself back up to continue attacking him, but Twilight holds her down.
With both of them grunting, Dawn kicks him back, with Twilight saying, "I really don't want to hurt you..." He stands up, letting her go.
As Dawn gets him off, suddenly Roid comes running through, charging at Twilight, causing him to back away from her, with everyone showing up in their warrior outfits, with Midnight grabbing Twilight saying, “I told you to stop hurting her, what’s truly gotten into you?”
Noon walks up to him saying, “you got to be more gentle.”
"This is all terrible, like why does he keep going on about you Dawn?" Morning turns to Dawn, generally wanting an answer.
"I-I'll get to it Morning, I will."
Dawn starts coughing a little, then she starts saying, “can we please… just go up the mountain.”
"Of course..." Night says. Then Evening comes up to Dawn, comforting her and making sure that she is okay.
Twilight gets back up, saying, “our true fate will never be broken, Dawn. We must keep that promise.”
"Just leave you punk!" Morning yells at him.
"Yeah, you punk." Night says back, trying to be intimidating.
He laughs a little, "go on, don't worry I'm going."
Dawn just stares back at him, frowning, angry about this entire interaction.
"Were you two fighting?" Evening questions, standing beside Dawn.
"Just go Twilight, none of us want to see your face of failure here.” Afternoon says.
Twilight puts his mask on and leaves, with Midnight shifting his eyes to Dawn saying, “why were you already here anyway?”
"I heard Lady Maldu's voice, then I heard thunder, and none of you even got up. I was waking you all up, but...?" Stopping mid sentence, Midnight says to her, "something is playing with your emotions, demons most likely, and it's because of Twilight. Now let’s go, before it’s too late.”
They all leave for the mysterious mountain, letting all the secrets be revealed.
