I felt my head slam against the top of the building shortly after I pushed off. I took in a deep breath, the edges of my eyesight becoming fuzzy. A wail rang through my ears before it went dark, but I could feel my body falling faster, picking up speed. Suddenly it felt as if I jumped into a pool of thick, warm, water. Choking yet oddly calming. I struggled for breath, my eyes going wide as the molasses-like liquid poured into my mouth and down my throat, forcing the air out of my lungs. I fought at it, desperately struggling as my skin started to tingle as if soap bubbles landed there. They moved and danced around, getting bigger and bigger as the invisible liquid kept the air out.
Suddenly the bubbles popped, one by one, the sugary sweet liquid jerked away, and I gulped in breath. I sat up, coughing, the darkness turning into a blinding light, still a little fuzzy around the edges. I put my arm over my mouth and gag, dizzy from the lack of air.
"You're awake!" A voice rang out next to me, and I realized I'm probably alive, and not alone.
