Slowly, the day went by, leaving Strings' guards hunting down Tosho and Anba, who stayed in the house, the prince and princess watching out for them, and finally night rose, letting the two skeletons slip out and back to the castle.
"Bye Strawberry, Marine." Anba murmured, dipping her head to them before they left.
Strawberry shot her a smile and closed the door, casting a sly look at Tosho.
Anba looked at Tosho, trying to figure out why she looked at him like that.
"Hey, don't look at me." Tosho raised his hands, closing his eyes. Anba rolled her eyes, taking her eyes off of him. He was wearing a tunic with short sleeves, showing the horrible scar on his left arm. She didn't like to see it, but she didn't bother him.
"Tosho..." Anba walked up to him, resting a warm hand on his cold skin.
"Yes?" Tosho lowered his arms, opening his eyes to look down at his friend, confusion laced into his features.
"Do you ever..." Anba looked at the door then back to Tosho. "Feel like they'll find us?"
"Well, yeah!" Tosho furrowed his brows and grabbed her hand, leading her to the table.
She sat down in a chair, and Tosho sat on the table, staring out a window. Anba stared at her hand, lacing her fingers into his, eyes showing her worry. "Soon they'll leave their walls of black marble and come to this house, and take is away. To where, I don't know... Hopefully at the least the Ruins, but the worst case is death and separation..."
Tosho opened his mouth to speak, but didn't know what to say to reassure Anba. Instead he just rubbed her hand with his thumb, still looking out the window.
"Yes, they'll find you two. Only death awaits in this world, and that's all you have to live for, Tosho." A voice echoed in Tosho's head, making him close his eyes.
"Tosho?" Anba's voice broke him from his thoughts, and he glanced at her.
"Hm."
"You sort of just... Blacked out for a minute. I got worried, that's all."
"It's fine, Sparks."
Anba looked at Tosho, confused with the nickname. "You've never called me tha-" She froze at the feeling of movement of cold air on her face.
"Just... Be quiet for a moment and listen." Tosho whispered, staring Anba in the eyes, his cold, slightly iron-like scent mixing with hers. She stared back, knowing what was going to happen.
He grabbed her other hand, drifting his gaze to the music box on a counter. Slowly he stood up, slipping away from Anba and walked over to it, slowly winding it up. As he did so, he walked back, sitting down on the table again. He kept winding it up until his hands were stinging, which was fine to him.
He got off the table and turned to Anba, holding a hand out to her. She blinked, but took it and let the music box play.
"Come, dance with me, as we await a path we can't see, Anba."
